English: a sour Belgian style brown ale. The base beer was a Belgian Brune, brewed in September 2008 by the Master Brewer Class of 2008/09 at the Scandinavian School of Brewing. The finished beer was then allowed to age for 10 months in a Spanish Tempranillo barrel with multiple strains of Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus, resulting in a pleasantly sour, extremely complex, smooth beer with significant oaky, winey and barnyard flavours. Malt and caramel notes on the palate and a clean, crisp and fruity finish.

37.5 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark orange with a small tan head. Aroma is milky and light citric dry, vague barnyard and fruity notes. Smooth malty, light caramelish and light cherry fruity. Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, lemon, wood, lacto, wine - white? As well as lighter notes of malt and straw. The flavor is sour with strong notes of lemon, brett, lacto, white wine, and wood, but also with an underlying malt sweetness, leading to a very tart and slightly puckering lemony finish.

Bottled. Hazy amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruits, sour wood, some spices and mild farmyard. Flavour is fruits, sour wood, mild vanilla and some mild caramel. Though a short texted rating, very complex and rather nice sour beer, not all too far from the lambic sourness, although something slight lacks for that. A brilliant sour ale anyways!

Bottle 37,5 cl. Cloudy and opaque dark amber with a small off-white head. Funky aroma indeed, lot’s of Brett and wood here. Medium body, dry caramel, fruit, wood and oxidized Sherry accents. Lots of Brett and sourness, but never overdone. Tart finish. Very delicious. 130909

Bottle at Bruce’s, London - big thanks to Paul. Pours hazy, red-brown with a moderate, white cream head. Ripe tangy berries in the nose, some darkened sugars. Light to medium sweet flavor, some tangy, semi-dark malts, ripe berries, bit of wet wood. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Further tangy berries in the nose, moderate sweetness, more wet wood. Pretty nice. Not overly tangy. Nice balance.
