English: a sour Belgian style brown ale. The base beer was a Belgian Brune, brewed in September 2008 by the Master Brewer Class of 2008/09 at the Scandinavian School of Brewing. The finished beer was then allowed to age for 10 months in a Spanish Tempranillo barrel with multiple strains of Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus, resulting in a pleasantly sour, extremely complex, smooth beer with significant oaky, winey and barnyard flavours. Malt and caramel notes on the palate and a clean, crisp and fruity finish.

sample @ home, thanks veliempojot!
Aroma is sweet and sour with oaky tones and some lactic acid. Flavour is somewhat acidic with raw apples, woody tones, red wine and sourness. Actually this is very red wine -like. I’m not a big friend of sour browns but this was good.

Bottle via trade. It pours cloudy deep amber with a small, bubbly beige head. The nose is mild sourness, berry, earth, vanilla, coconut and a touch of vinegar. The taste is initially tart, lemon, Granny Smith, apple, berry, light spice, sherbet, some underlying sweetness and faint vinegar with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, well-balanced and very drinkable. Has aged gracefully.
