COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with 2-Row, Roasted Barley, Chocolate and De-bittered Chocolate malts, they also used lactose (milk sugar), for a bit of sweet character (lactose is not fermentable by most yeasts). Northern Brewer hops were used for bittering, and a light dose of Willamette was used late in the boil for aroma. A Belgian Stout yeast strain was used to ferment this first-in-the-region creation.

Bottle: Poured a light black color stout with an off-white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of light coffee notes and milk chocolate. Taste is a mix of chocolate notes, with light dry coffee with light yeasty notes. Body is creamy and light with good carbonation. Interesting and well brewed even though this is not a favorite style of mine.

rejtable (2960) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2015
Bottle from Bishop’s. Pours dark brown coffee, limited tan had and minimal lacing. Nose is coffee, milk chocolate. Flavours of coffee, milk chocolate, yeast and graham crackers. Taste medium bitter, big/medium sweet with just a tart hint hidding in the background. Mouth is creamy with light carbonation.

Lubiere (14584) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 16, 2015
A deep dark brown stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light licorice, herbaceous character, phenolics and light alcohol warmth. In mouth, a sweet powdery character, light bean notes, light mint, strange. Bottle from Halifax via Rejtable.

Bomber into a snifter. Pours jet black with a sparse off-white, quickly-dissipating head. Nose of dark chocolate, a bit of coffee, vanilla, and maybe a bit of burnt rubber. Treacle, with a bit of bitter bite. A bit thin on the palate, though. Their best.

Thanks gethinbeer. Deep black pour with a tight brown head. The aroma is quite spicy and a little bit roasty. Has a touch of clove and some nice dark malt. A big of licorice and some nice fruit but there is a clashy sort of quality to it. Belgian stouts just aren’t my bag.

Poured from bottle. Great aroma of vanilla and coffee. Pours black with some tan head. Taste is medium bitter. Medium to full bodied with a slick texture, soft carbonation, and a slight bitter finish. This one is a sipper. Similar to an Imperial Stout with less alcohol.

What a fantastic brew from a fantastic brewery, these gents have really mastered using Belgian yeast. This is the first time I have (knowingly) experienced a Stout using a Belgian strain and it sure makes for an interesting and tasty sudder. Onyx liquid flows into the glass with a smooth tan head adorning it. Cigar smoke, basement, burnt toast, chocolate, coffee, leather, charred fruitcake and milk scents and flaves make this a wild taste-bomb of complexity. There is a strong mostly bitter bittersweet aftertaste of charred fruitcake and milky sweetness. My only gripe with this great glass-filler is the thin (for the style) body, perhaps from highly attenuating Belgian yeast. Marvelousness in a mug.

Pours black as the night with a nice tan head. Some roast on the nose, nutty, dark berries, some faint barnyard. Has a medium body with a very creamy texture, goes down damn smooth, very easy drinking. The roastiness carries over to the taste, along with a perfect gradually building sweetness and some light Belgian yeast character. Very clean finishing beer. Yet another amazing creation from North Brewing.

Jet black pour with a frothy tan head and cling lace. Roasted chocolate malt, vanilla aroma. Lively roasted malt flavour. Tasty notes of chocolate and smoky coffee beans coming through, followed by a toasty bitterness. Thin body and a little sweet overall.
