on tap at NXNW. They call it a barley wine, it is listed here as english strong, I think both classifications would be accurate. Pours very nice ruby color with off white creamy head. Aroma includes of raisin, prune. Flavor includes dark fruit tones, molasses, and even some maple, burnt sugar. Very smooth and sippable for abv. Quite nice. On tap at the brewery.
Listed as an English Barleywine.
The beer pours a hazy dark reddish brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very heavy on the dark fruit and some very sweet malt. The flavor is similar with some added notes. I get a lot of brown sugar from the malt as well as some piney hops, dark fruit and some alcohol. The beer is fairly boozy, but less so than some other barleywines. The predominant flavor is brown sugar. Medium mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation. jcwattsrugger (12418) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 16, 2010
22oz bottle-pours a slightly hazy amber with a big tight foamy light tan head. Aroma is slight medium fruit, musty, grain. Taste is medium malt-caramel, spice hops. Lots of effervescence. 3.2 Then 2nd ½ of bottle is cloudy/murky and the effervescence has calmed. Nice. 3.5 jtclockwork (16443) - , New Jersey, USA - NOV 11, 2010

Barrel aged version on tap at the pub. Clear copper orange pour with a foamy white head. Big sweet malt nose with ripe fruit. Taste is sweet bourbon sting right away. Very warming as it slinks down your throat. Lovely spice and light chocolate. Very good and very well done. I’m thinking this may need to be a new listing as it’s barrel aged. kp (10882) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - MAR 8, 2009

Served in a tiny tulip, dirty beer clean glass. tan 1/2" head lasts 30 seconds. color is deep amber with red tint. Aroma of carmelized sugars and sourdough. Consistency is really nutty. Flavor is nutty fruity, sweet, and taste too much like alcohol. bite starts off strong but smoothens out to a slow burn on the way down. finish is tart and bready. a bit heavy overall. GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - FEB 18, 2009
750mL bottle courtesy of slimchill poured into a tulip.
Pours a murky caramel orange with small floaties in the first pour underneath a small head of big bubbles that recedes to a small collar and left some delicate lacing.
The aroma is musky but sweet with lots of apple and pear sweetness with a healthy dose of bready malts as well. There are hints of spices, maybe cinnamon and pepper.
The taste has an interesting spicy kick up front before the big light fruit sweetness comes on with apples mainly and a hint of floral sweetness. The spices come back in the finish with a slight peppery dryness.
The mouthfeel is very slick with low carbonation - drinks almost like a cask ale.
This is a very interesting beer from NXNW with lots of fruity sweetness battling with an herbal spiciness throughout. Certainly worth a try and very original. JaBier (7871) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JAN 24, 2009
Bottle sample courtesy of bgburdman. Cloudy amber in color with a thin white head. Malty nose with cherry and raspberry character. Sweet flavor with some tart fruit influence and a sugary finish.
