Bottle. This bottle says the ABV is 7%, not 10%. Whatever. Medium sized tan head with fine-medium sized bubbles that mostly diminished. Fast rising carbonation, opaque and a copper hue. Malty, caramel and alcohol aroma. Malty, caramel, brown sugar and alcohol flavor. Yummy in my tummy!! The mouthfeel started off as tingly, but as this beer warmed up it turned to a burning sensation. Medium-full bodied beer with fair lacing. This is an excellent beer IMO and definitely one worth getting if you can find it. Hope I have a chance to drink this one again! raindog (560) - Evansville, Indiana, USA - AUG 19, 2002
’98 corked bottle.Found in a whole in the wall liquor store.Obviously didn’t sell well here.Still life when cork explodes.Dark mahogany with minimal rocky head.Ring lasts longer than expected.Oxidized aromas of fruit, caramel, chocolate, and wood.Oak and cherry-alcohol fruitiness dominate the tounge.Dry,bourbon, oxidized finish.Actually, not as bad as I was expecting for it’s age. My bottle says 7% not 10%bv.Because of price,I would not recommend buying.Maybe two or three years ago but now anymore.Still, better shape than I expected.Potential was there. Prettygood experimental brew. Corked bottle. Mine was a little out-of-date but nonetheless full bodied and excellent. Whiskey and chocolate noticed. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 19, 2001
Quite complex. Sweet chocolate is the dominant flavor, but there is also that nice raisiny-pruney flavor that comes with many super-strong ales. Had this right after J.W. Lees Harvest Ale, and this one blew the English beer out of the proverbial water.
