Smokey, roasted, woody aroma with just a hint of chocolate. The flavor has a bitter edge to it which blends well with the smokiness. Very dark color, and no head. Too much carbonation in this beer, but still a very refreshing dry stout. I, too, prefer this to Guinness, Beamish, or Murphy’s. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 28, 2002
UPDATED: APR 14, 2003 A splendid example of a dry stout, and to my palate, much better than Guinness or Murphy's. Sickboy282 (1114) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 27, 2002
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2007 A very decent stout with all the right stuff. Lightly dry on the palate, but with a great flavor... An old rasputin you can drink all night. 40oz (181) - Newport Beach, California, USA - NOV 5, 2001
Fruity hop aroma, with a toasty choclate taste. Light bodied for a stout. BeerNazi (169) - winnetka, California, USA - SEP 20, 2001

Rich frothy head leaves a very nice lace around the glass. Like espresso with a hint of fruit juice. Has a little mettalic taste but nothing drastic. Aftertaste makes me think I was just at Starbucks. wbdace (50) - los angeles, California, USA - MAY 2, 2001
