Deep cola-brown body under a thick, mocha head. Pleasant smoked/roasted aroma along with rich cocoa and light alcohol. Texture is dry yet milky while the flavor is part Kayo and part Ovaltine. Finishes with a burnt bitterness which morphs into a chocolate covered cherry. I regret buying only one 12 oz. bottle. ~~~~~~~~ Single bottle from a "mix-a-six", Woodman’s, Carpentersville, IL.

Bottle. Black colour, small head with decent lacing. Aroma is much coffee, also pine, very well balanced. Light bitterness, not sweet. Smooth, soft carbonation. Rich, but not aggressive. Very good!

Pours black from the bottle. The frothy tan head slowly subsides, leaving a sticky web of lacing. Aroma is Backhaus, coffee grounds, sweet cream. Taste is bitter with a light tang. Quite smokey. Dry. Body is medium with a mild carbonation. Overall not bad.

Pours a jet black with a very foamy, long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is lots of roast and chocolate. Flavor is similar with some caramel. Somewhat sweet. Has a smooth, creamy body. Quite good.

From old tasting notes. Color is deep brown with reddish hues. Rocky tan head. Wonderful chocolate roasted malt aroma. Fresh roasted malt flavor hints at chocolate, coffee and treacle. Long dry finish.na very interesting stout. Refreshing and satisfying.

Need to find this again - after the fact review. Dark pour with creamy head. Aroma is nearly perfect pure roastedness. Flavor follows similarly - never too dry or imparting any other flavors than delicious roasted malt. Finish is clean leaving me wanting more. Fantastic stout.
