Wow. What an aroma. Raisins is what comes to my mind first. Smells different then most stouts Ive encountered. Scents of chocolate and coffee mix very well in this brew. Bottle, pours black with an off white head, a nice lacing. Very enjoyable to look at. Taste is bitter with a strong alcohol finish. The alcohol is strong in this one, I felt it over powered some of its other qualities, but still a good brew. I plan to pick up more.

Pours to a rich black body with a medium sized head. Aroma hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Tasting reveals many more secrets such a well balanced blend of bittering hops and a full, but not overwhelming malt. Great Brew

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2007 Pours a dark black with decent head. Aroma of raisins, fruit, coffee, and chocolate Flavors of dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate, not to mention the smokey, caramel flavor and bitter hops. After trying many more imperial stouts, I have to say this is just average. I think it gets such a high rating because it is a beginner imp. stout.

Bottled. Pours nearly opaque with a lacy tan head. Aroma with notes of molasses, coffee, raisins and chocolate. Nicely rounded creamy body with medium to light carbonation. Taste starts rather sweet with roasty malt and chocolate, then raisins and espresso. The hops take over for a smokey bitter finish. Theres plenty going on in this beer and all of it is good.

I like this brew! Pours very dark, with a thick head, great coffee aroma. Tastes even stronger than the aroma would hint; this beer has a very strong taste, somewhat bitter, but purely enjoyable at the same time.

Great stout! Pours black (like my sooooul!) with a lingering head. Smells like toasty malts, coffee, and a little chocolate. It is a bit too bitter in the aftertaste for me, but a very enjoyable brew nonetheless.

Draft on nitro at Newport Pizza in OB. Beautiful pour, dense tan head that never quite went away. the lacing was phenomenal, striations left on the glass as markers in between sips. The striped lacing remained from the top of the glass even when I had finished drinking the whole thing. Deep brown liquid. Chocolate notes at the start that turns to coffee by the finish. Not totally without hops. Nose was pleasant roast malts, but a little light. Added a poijnt to the overall tally due to the beauty of this drink in the glass as it went down. Im sure the nitro had more than a little to do with it, but this far outshined any nitro glass of Guiness or any other nitro Ive seen in recent memory.

Split the bottle with deltamarik below. I echo his thoughts but i might also add that i think this brew would see some improvement after a little aging in the cellar.

Very, very good. Its very dark, although not as much as some of the other Imperial Stouts out there (Victory and Bells come to mind). Tastes suitably heavy. A bit too carbonated for my taste, but if thats the worst thing you can say about an Imperial Stout you still have yourself one fine beverage.
