UPDATED: JUN 25, 2015 Blind RIS experiment [Sample 14 of 20, 4/29/2015] Poured by Summer. Nearly black with huge frothy brown head, irregularly sized bubbles, long-lasting, great lacing. Based on appearance alone Im ready to guess Old Rasputin. Aroma balanced between chocolate and roast. Theres a slightly sour note at first, but that recedes. Taste: down the middle chocolate and roast, lasting bitterness, light alcohol burn. Body is a little flabby (carbonation a bit soft), medium+ body. Still plenty drinkable, and I find myself almost chugging this one. Nothing sexy about it, but nothing really flawed either. Roasty, nutty, reasonably dry. This works alright for me.

RB rating: 7/5/7/3/15
Guess: Raspy (though I confess, I remember Raspy tasting better than this, so I hope its something else).
Would pay: $9/4-pack.

(1/23/2013) Dark, nearly black pour with foamy tan head. Irregular lacing. Smooth milk chocolate, roasted coffee aroma. Sweet, rich start gives way to roasty bitterness - they blend well together. Full body, average carbonation, coating but not quite sticky mouthfeel. Finish is long and nicely balanced between the chocolate-sweetness and roasty-bitterness. Overall: My favorite "everyday" imperial stout. Classic. [8/4/9/4/17]

Bottle, 12 fl.oz. Home. A pitch black beer with a medium beige foamy head ; good retention and lacing. Roast, black chocolate, coffee, caramel note, bourbon (?). Medium round sweet, light to medium dry bitter refreshing ; nice balance in a warming atmosphere, acid note. Voluptuous body, oily texture, soft carbonation to flat, bittersweet roasty chocolate lasting finish. Overall, awesome ! Fantastic :)

Bottle. Black colour, durable beige head, great lacing. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts with notes of coffee, some cocoa and dried dark fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter, coffee, dried dark fruits, cocoa, slightly earthy, heavy roasty. Medium+ body, average carbonation. Good imperial stout, but rather unbalanced and simple.

Pours with some head, about , not as much as I had hoped. Aroma is of a dark Coke. Good taste with just that bit of bitter at the end. Yeah, its very good.

Noire. Belle mousse dense. Nez intense de torréfaction. Café espresso. En bouche: belle équilibre entre l'amertume et le sucré. Légère chaleur d'alcool. Café corsé. Grain torréfié. Malt chocolat. Finale sèche et amère. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flat with a unremarkable texture. Taste doesnt resound - it just sort of trickles through without a memorable after taste. Initial taste sort of reminiscent of cardboard.

Pitch black with tan head, nice retention; thick, creamy and lively. Intense roasted coffee and dark chocolate on the nose; rum-raisin, toffee, cherry. Taste is coffee forward, with toffee sweetness supporting it. Leafy and dry bitter hop finish. Its pretty excellent.

Pours black from the bottle with a thick, creamy tan head that subsides, but lingers. Strong roasted notes in the aroma, but also spice, like a German Lebkuchen mix. Taste is bitter, lightly spiced, with a growing sourness on the swill. Finishes with warm chocolate, but not at all alcoholic. Body is to the heavier side of medium, and inflected with a light carbonation. I could drink this every week, happily, which for me is a very good sign. Excellent.
