Opaque. Thick viscous used motor oil fresh from the pan. Burnt coffee blindsides you upon the first sip. This is followed by more java, dark chocolate... charred grains. Hints of licorice, carmel, oats-- this is not for guzzlin. There is so much velvet on the palate that it would make the velveteen rabbit blush. Rasputin was said to have a silver tongue and this my friends is possibly the only beer he could taste. Huge taste, aroma, mouthfeel. I would recommend this to the serious beer drinker only.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pitch black under a frothy long lasting khaki head that leaves a ton of lace. Nose is roast, dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, and some nuttiness. Flavour follows the nose with a light+ dry sweetness leading to a medium+ coffee and chocolate bitterness and a hint of cherry tartness. Mouth is medium+ and creamy with soft carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. This is a big beer yet the alcohol is well integrated. 9/4+/8/4+/18

651ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a massive frothy creamy brownish head that sticks around fairly long and has a dark brown appearance. Great retention. Lively carbonation. Aromas of dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Flavours are mostly of the malt variety, lots of chocolate and coffee notes, cocoa and roasted malts, some spices as well as notes of dark fruits. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Abv is very well hidden. Good stuff!

Bottle. Black colour, durable beige head, great lacing. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts with notes of coffee, some cocoa and dried dark fruits. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter, coffee, dried dark fruits, cocoa, slightly earthy, heavy roasty. Medium+ body, average carbonation. Good imperial stout, but rather unbalanced and simple.

Pours with some head, about , not as much as I had hoped. Aroma is of a dark Coke. Good taste with just that bit of bitter at the end. Yeah, its very good.

Noire. Belle mousse dense. Nez intense de torréfaction. Café espresso. En bouche: belle équilibre entre l'amertume et le sucré. Légère chaleur d'alcool. Café corsé. Grain torréfié. Malt chocolat. Finale sèche et amère. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flat with a unremarkable texture. Taste doesnt resound - it just sort of trickles through without a memorable after taste. Initial taste sort of reminiscent of cardboard.

Pitch black with tan head, nice retention; thick, creamy and lively. Intense roasted coffee and dark chocolate on the nose; rum-raisin, toffee, cherry. Taste is coffee forward, with toffee sweetness supporting it. Leafy and dry bitter hop finish. Its pretty excellent.

Pours black from the bottle with a thick, creamy tan head that subsides, but lingers. Strong roasted notes in the aroma, but also spice, like a German Lebkuchen mix. Taste is bitter, lightly spiced, with a growing sourness on the swill. Finishes with warm chocolate, but not at all alcoholic. Body is to the heavier side of medium, and inflected with a light carbonation. I could drink this every week, happily, which for me is a very good sign. Excellent.
