As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.’s commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. It’s brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so it’s a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2012 2012 Rating Appearance is not it’s strong suit. Muddy water with very little head. Aroma seems to have improved from what I remember, vanilla and bourbon - yum. A little lighter in body than I expected, but a solid performer in this category. 2011 Rating Below Not very complex. I got typical barley wine here.. neutral aroma. Pass on this one. 5/4/7/4/12 Formerly Rated in 2011: 3.2

12 ounce bottle. 2016 vintage; 11.8% ABV. Garnet colored with a small tight bubbly tan head. Rich, warming toasted malt flavor upfront. Notes of dried fruit, Madiera wine and caramel. Then the hops kick in. Intensely bittersweet and resiny and a wonderful balance to the big malty backbone. Quick amazing and certainly a classic Old Ale. Worth seeking out.

2015 Bottle. A wicked beast, strong and heavy, loads of boozy malt sweetness on top of a powerfully bitter backbone. Caramel, honey, brandied plums, wood, and pine all crash together in a thick, foreboding ooze, leading to a finish dripping with resinous IBU vitriol and a hearty liquour heat. Still a tad abrasive at two years, but a worthy pint nonetheless.

It's a really solid beer, and I really like it. It was more hop than I originally thought I would get, but once I adjusted I really liked the beer. It's full of complexity and flavor and one of the best Old Ale's I've had. Good beer.

higgsbison (261) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 20, 2017
Full-bodied. Soft carbonation. Strong alcohol present. Other than that it was hard for me to peg down. Definitely needs to warm up. Didn't even care for it out of the fridge. Might be worth buying some to let age ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taste: Rich, malty,, warming alcohol, clean finish. Malty boozy nose. Copper, clear, tan head with a refined lattice of lace. Full but not heavy body.

Michael27 (2290) - Berlin, GERMANY - AUG 19, 2017
Aus der Flasche getrunken (Kauf bei Getränkefeinkost Berlin). Version von 2015. Dunkles Rotbraun mit dünner Schaumdecke im Glas. In der Nase wuchtige Malzigkeit. Interessantes Prinkeln am Gaumen. Ziemlich straffer Körper. Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein.

BeerViking (4998) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 6, 2017
2012 bottle share at Chriso’s, rich brown with a lasting ring, vanilla, caramel and wood on the nose, syrupy and dry-sweet, peppery and lightly fruity.

datrael (577) - Krakow, POLAND - JUL 28, 2017
Vintage 2016. W aromacie kandyzowane owoce, dzikie jagody, miód gryczany, troche karmelu. W wygladzie miedziane z obraczka kremowej piany. W smaku kandyzowane owoce, figi, rodzynki, melasa, lesne jagody, miód gryczany, chleb razowy. Zdecydowanie slodkie, cialo geste, zawiesiste, degustacyjne, lekka goryczka. Ogólnie old ale w stylu angielskiego barley wine o owocowym profilu, niezle piwo

Aggiebob (1256) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Bottle. It poured a murky reddish brown with a off-white head. The aroma has notes of dark fruits, brown sugar, and caramel. It is a little bozzy. Very nice sipping ale.
