TChrome (1480) - North Richland Hills, Texas, USA - JUL 22, 2004
Pours cloudy apricot color with an off white dissipating head. Aroma is nice and rich with notes of yeast, spices, some serious candy sugar and a touch of alcohol. Flavor is quite fruity with light yeastiness. Not incredibly complex, but quite enjoyable.

Bottle Pours a hazy tan/amber with a little head and thin lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity and malty with a hint of spice and cloves. Yeast and malt are up front. Sweet spices also. Feel is a bit cloudy/chalky but smooth. Finish is pleasant. Just OK

Pours a cloudy peach / very light amber color,,starting with a good frothy head thad fades away,, yeasty, wheaty, sweet ,bitter, taste,,I didnt see nothing floating inthe bottle or glass!! not bad at all!! but not an 80!!!

Pours a cloudy peach color with a dissapointing head. Aroma is yeasty, with apricots, coriander and cloves. Taste is medium bodied, with ample carbonation and more of the yeastiness, with more citrus and spice, along with some pepper and bubblegum. Nice finish. No hint of alcohol. Pretty good, not the yeast attack I’ve seen in some belgians. Not excellent... just pretty good.

(12 oz bottle) Solid effort at a dry Belgian golden ale for an American brewer; The spicy and yeasty flavor is quite prominent from start to finish, but the mildly sweet, apricot fruit flavor is quite apparent as well; The aroma is lightly spicy and lightly fruity with also a mild sourness; Very carbonated mouthfeel with a nice, full palate that is slightly sticky; The color is a hazy, light golden; Some small chunky dark sediment floating near the glass edge, but most was left on the bottom of the bottle; White head is fairly small on the pour and fades to a sheen rather quickly; With almost no head, lacing is not applicable for this beer

Poured a hazy orange with a small, 1-finger head with small particles. Spicy and musty (yeasty) aromas. Spicy tasting with hints of fruits (oranges and bananas). Watery body. Didn’t strike me as anything special.

To truly evaluate North Coast, I should have a beer of a style that is high on my list - right? First off, it is hard to believe that this is a 7+% Belgian. There is just a certain thin factor that has its positives and negatives in this one. The positive is that this is a very refreshing and drinkable beer. The negative is that the bang for the buck isn’t there in terms of pure flavor. This is clealy to style, but no more interesting than a decent homebrew. The only distinctive I could pull out of it was a rosewater sweetness.

Sweet, smooth and yeasty. Nice mellow hops and well hidden alcohol. Very fruity/apricot flavor. Peach colored and cloudy with ample head. Quite tasty and very authentic.

This was an interstng and suprising brew. Pors a nice deep golden color. Tons and I mean Tons of little yeast floaties. Nose is of candy sugar, rosemary, candy sugar and barley and yeast. Flavors are mainly of sugar. Not bad Not balanced but not bad at all G-rat

Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUL 1, 2004
Pours hazy light orange with a thin off-white head. Spicy (pepper) aroma with pineapple juice and pear syrup. Flavor is pretty well developed with fruity notes (peach, pear and white grape), citrus, spice (plenty of yeast phenols), and sweet bread. Medium-bodied. Quite a bit going on but nothing stands out.
