UPDATED: AUG 16, 2004 Tap, Maproom, Chicago. DOPE. I really enjoyed this one, from smell to finish. Huge frothy head diminished to light grazing of white bubbles. Smelled of banana, cheese, and a bit of lemon. The flavor was moderately acidic and sweet in the front with a very faint bitterness. The flavor seemed to be a complex combination of fruit flavors and spice flavors that I’m not good enough to identify, but it was good. The finish was somewhat creamy with a little bit of alcohol on the breath, fuller than I expected. tiggmtl (4543) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 10, 2004
UPDATED: NOV 24, 2005 Original Rating (7-4-6-3-13=3.3): Mild coriander with toasted malt in the aroma. Alcohol very noticeable. Pale golden yellow with dense white head that recedes to cover. Malty flavour with light dusting of spices - pepper, coriander and some citrusy characteristics. Lasting mild sweetness. Body is medium with fizzy mouthfeel. Fairly unexciting. Bottle (sampled at Mondial 2004).radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 9, 2004
Rerate (5-2-6-2-11=2.6): Tropical fruits, sherry tones and doughy yeast in the aroma. Hazy copper coloured body a crown of low white head that recedes to ring. Tropical fruits and cookie dough are dominant with some notes of sherry in the fairly sweet aroma. Light finishing bitterness takes the edge off. Medium body with strong, prickly carbonation. Bottle sampled at Peculier Pub in NYC with Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.
Honey yellow in colour. Aroma had some mild alcohol, light sweetness and some yeast. Flavour was malty, some bananas, alcohol, spices, pepper and mild hops. Mild finish, smooth with a slight bitterness. I expected more. civforprez (229) - Galesburg, Illinois, USA - JUN 9, 2004

(Bottle) Mondial de la Bière 2004. I’ve been looking forward to having this beer for a while - luckily I didn’t need to trade for it. Pours a thin, white head with a cloudy orange body. Beautiful lacing on the glass. Nose of slight rubbing alcohol, vanilla, orange and spice. Smooth yet tart.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2006 Pours with a beautiful red grapefruit flesh color. A little carbonation sticks to the side of the glass. After the initial visual impression, I had high hopes. However, I was dissapointed. This smells of ginger, peaches and grapefruit. The taste is tart with grapefruit at first. Then, bread and spicy nutmeg balance this out. A decent beer for the style. coast. Has the same yeasty flavour of Duvel (i.e fair amount of character, but nice and soft. This was spicy, appley, lemony, yeasty, nice warming finish, not too bad.
An interesting beer. Pours a light copper with a frothy white head. The nose was floral and bananas. Medium bodied. Nice spicy flavor. This was a good drinking beer. badgerben (5397) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 21, 2004
Pours out a cloudy orange with a medium head. Very fruity and yeasty aroma. The flavor is not as in-your-face as many Belgians are. Still, yeasts and spices are the prevaling flavors. Very nice, but nothing to drive cross-country for.
