coast. Has the same yeasty flavour of Duvel (i.e fair amount of character, but nice and soft. This was spicy, appley, lemony, yeasty, nice warming finish, not too bad.
An interesting beer. Pours a light copper with a frothy white head. The nose was floral and bananas. Medium bodied. Nice spicy flavor. This was a good drinking beer. badgerben (5324) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 21, 2004
Pours out a cloudy orange with a medium head. Very fruity and yeasty aroma. The flavor is not as in-your-face as many Belgians are. Still, yeasts and spices are the prevaling flavors. Very nice, but nothing to drive cross-country for. jtw (1170) - farmington, Michigan, USA - MAY 20, 2004
very lemony and piney nose, some malt and yeast. hazy dark straw color. really floral taste with the typical fruit flavors, lots of banana. very smooth, and it hides the alcohol really well. excellent beer!

Pours cloudy, deep orange with decent sized head. Aroma of belgian yeast, perfume, and a little fruity. Has a hint of sweet butter in the flavor. Has fairly typical belgian flavors. Apples, bananas, spices and yeast. This seems to be a mild version of a belgian. Not bad, but I have had better. Nexxus (261) - Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA - MAY 5, 2004
Cloudy light golden amber with a large lasting frothy off white head. Musty, spicy aroma of clove, cinnamon, coriander, ginger, honey and light bread. Medium light watery body with soft carbonation. Flavor of clove, cinnamon, ginger, honey, ripe cheese, allspice and light bread. Good but not great, forgettable. BigBastard (668) - L.A., California, USA - MAY 3, 2004
Nice Belgian, with flavors of brown sugar, caramel, cloves, banana and malt. Very smooth with only a hint of alcohol. FROTHINGSLOSH (8142) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2014 This is a rather nice interpretation of the Belgian Golden Ale style and one of my favorite North Coast beers. Sadly this one was absent from our market for a number of years but it is making a reappearance +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a light bronze color with a small tan head. There is a moderate sweet sugar, breadyand lightly fruity aroma. The flavor is a mix of sweet, sour and vague spice with moderate notes of ripe golden fruits and sugar. Medium length fruit and sugar finish. Fairly full bodied. All in all an excellent beer. beermaniac (86) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2004
Aroma: Spicy, yeasty character typical of belgian yeast. Fruity/estery aroma is nice with no hop aroma.
Appearance: Decent head retention, gold color.
Flavor: Spicy, yeasty flavor with hints of soapiness. Estery flavory, no hop flavor at all. Finishes with a sweetish candi sugar quality to it. Slight malt in the background but is pretty much obscured by the spicy character.
Mouthfeel: Medium mouthfeel, carbonation prickly on the tongue. Finishes with a slight sourness. Alcohol very well hidden.
Overall: Well balanced, good beer for style, but not great. Pretty one dimensional, but a decent beer.
