Very good golden take. The head was just overwhelming. Excellent aftertaste. By the end, it was a bit sweeter than I would like it to have been. But overall one of the better US goldens. Delbomber (387) - Philadelphia, USA - AUG 21, 2001
Yeast, spice, fig, and citrus nose accompany this cloudy, golden brown beer that looks much like a german wheat. Very smooth with a full-body. Malty and quite warming, with flavors including pear, plum, green banana, and citrus. Yeast and spice aftertaste, with a slight mouth-drying alcohol presence. Very tasty and smooth, this is a solid Belgian Ale by an American brewery that manages to avoid the harsh character by which this style is sometimes accompanied. Bravo. It tasted very similar to a German wheat to me. As you can see from my ratings of Hacker-Pschorr I'm not too partial to the style. However, I did find the characteristics in the taste that were a little more appealing. Basically, I thought it was not too bad but just not for me. Perfect yellow golden color. Couldy but little sediment. Yeast, citrus and candy in the nose, head doesn't last like Duvel. Citrus, spicy, effervescent body slightly thin for the style. Yes -- pitches a tent and starts a fire in the gut. Very tasty.

A very nice impression of the style. I had to have several goes at this one before I could feel good about rating it. I have had several more goes since. I like it. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 1, 2001
A very impressive example of a Belgian golden ale. Pear-flavors remind one of Duvel, and it is more full-bodied than its progenitor. Not a good session beer, though, as it sits in your gut like lead. Oakes (19689) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 19, 2000
Malty, spicy and floral. A very pleasant rendition of the Duvel style......
