500ml bottle in a Trappist glass at WOB. Pours a light tangerine color. Unfiltered sediment in the bottle makes it cloudier on the second glass. Served a little too cold. A two finger head from an aggressive pour. Aroma of a lot of caramel and cereal malts, some oak, a good amount of hops, a little alcohol, and some kind of spiciness. Flavor the same, with more sour apple up front. Starts our reminiscent of a barley wine, but the finish is much lighter with bread, butter and Juicy Fruit flavor. Big hop finish cleans it all up and dries things out. Did not notice the oak that much. A smooth texture. A good beer. The alcohol had settled out by the drinking date and was barely noticeable.

Rich amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, rich fruit/agave, floral, & citrus; Flavor of sweet malt, oak, honey, tropical fruit, agave, and vinous notes; Warm finish; Needs a little more balance - but interesting & decent overall.

Bottle from Cask N Flask, San Jose. Seem to remember splitting it with Hatzer. Coppery orange fogged with bits under a brief white head. Mad squashy dried fruit, Nice biscuits dipped in bourbon nose. Elegant coconut, vanilla pod custard flavour smeared with mellow fig. Chewy sweet dessert wine blended with bourbon, less heat. Vanilla and coconut macaroon dominating. Zero alcohol. Light dusting of cocoa powder. Fine brew.

Pours copper with a quickly receding, bubbling head. Wafts of vanilla, raisin, plum, caramel, Belgian yeast and alcohol. Taste has lots of the classical Belgian characteristics: slightly spiced, sweet, crisp and effervescent. The golden raisin/plum/prune is present, with a pleasant buttery oak finish. Slightly astringent, but at 12.5% that's not really a surprise. The reviews knocking the style as inconsistent and different aren't wrong; to me it just feels like the blend works more often than it doesn't. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
