As a winter ale, it’s disappointing. It’s not that interesting, or special, but something about Wintertime Ale was very drinkable. To start with, the mouth-feel is very rich and textured but delicately so. An interesting tea taste shines through and works better than I would have imagined. Slight hops aftertaste, with a little floral in there too - enough going on but not too muddled. If they relabeled this as as a farmhouse ale, I think it’d do pretty good.
From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Foamy tan head. Spicy roasted malt aroma. Rich toasted malt flavor with hints of toffee and cocoa. There is an abundance of hops that come through early and lasts throgh to the finish. Good flavor and body contribute to a tasty dark ale. Weevo (187) - Indiana, USA - OCT 4, 2015
Bottle. Pours a light mahogany with light tan head. Aroma of carmel and toasted malt, follows thru to taste with a hint of fruit. A little bitterness left on the palate. Good drinkable beer.

Got one on clearance and drank from bottle. Nice nut flavor. Probably would have been better when it was fresh but still pretty good. GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2015

12/26/14. On tap at RIBCO. Amber pour with a small khaki head, mild lacing. Spiced aroma, Christmas spices and the like, bready, malty, doughy. The flavor is basically the same, a dose of spices, malty, bready, a little yeasty, doughy. Not bad.

Bottle. Amber pour with a smaller head. Malty and spice. Not all that pleasant. Not interested in finishing this. sturmthis (1195) - Bavaria, GERMANY - JAN 8, 2015
On tap. Copper color with one finger off white head. Malt and spice aroma. Taste is more malty. Nothing special. Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JAN 1, 2015
(bottle) Pours a copper-red color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Aroma holds a strong note of toasted malt, some chocolate undertones, and a scent reminiscent of a spiced date bar. Flavor is full of the toasted malt, with a semi-sweet and spicy component that turns really dry and somewhat off-putting on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is fizzy. Overall a pretty nondescript beer that was pleasant enough to drink. Block (3222) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - DEC 30, 2014
This was a pretty regular winter beer. A bit of spice, some malts, caramel. Not too crazy. kjc51478 (441) - Valparaiso, Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2014
Draught pint. Appearance is hazy orange color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is caramel and bready. Taste is similar with caramel sweetness and slight herbal bitterness, but not much flavor. Palate is medium-bodied, smooth texture, and a semi-dry finish.
