Draft (at Black Bear in Morgantown, WV)... Clear orange ale with a small, wispy, white head. Great retention. I really had trouble pulling any aroma from the glass, but as the beer warmed I was able to pick out some oddly sweet notes of unidentified melons and tropical fruits. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and prickly carbonation. The flavor is malty and fruity up front (maybe melon?), then fairly bitter on the backside. Finishes raspy and dry with lingering bitterness. I couldn’t really nail this one down as there were sweet-fruity notes I’ve not encountered in any other beer. Too strange to love. Too good to hate. My burrito rocked!
Taster on tap at the brewpub. Served from a small plastic cup. Orange sort of color. Good creamy off-white head. Leaves good, thicker full lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Caramel malt, nice spicy resiny hop. Some pine. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Moderate sweet. Solid IPA. Big malt to it, though. From BVery’s growler, thanks for sharing. Some floral and herbal aromas, which is the best thing about this beer. Flavor is all over the place and no flavor particularly comes through. It is bitter but lacks hop flavor. Bacterial (3040) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Pour from a growler - thanks Brian!! Nose is fruity and maybe a touch stale. Flavor is muddy, not very hoppy, lots of bitterness in the finish. Just blah. BVery (11237) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Growler. Slightly cloudy orange pour with not much of a head. Kind of a stale hop nose but the taste is slightly better - slightly fruity. Okay. jlogue3454 (1) - - JAN 7, 2014 does not count
Beer has very little to no aroma, appears bright amber/copper in the glass, taste leaves something to be desired and bitterness level is more along the lines of a pale ale than an IPA. Nice malty character, but too much body and malt sweetness for the style.

4 oz. draft sample at B&D gastropub. Pours slightly hazy golden with medium bright white head. Aroma is herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and medium small bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops with strong malt backbone. BeerandBlues2 (13697) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is biscuit and honey malt, citrus, pine, and herbal hops with mango and papaya. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation. Travlr (25821) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 13, 2013
Draft at the source. Hazy golden amber color. Aroma of light fruit. Taste is bitter fruit. JaBier (8156) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - OCT 9, 2013
Sample at the brewpub on 9/20/13. Clear amber pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel corn and grassy hops. Malty and grainy flavor with caramel and butter character before a grassy hop finish. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 15, 2013
Tap at Black Bear burrito joint in Morgantown, WV. Cloudy orange pour, weak head. Nose is dusty, moldy, some light vinegar and sweet orange candies. Taste is dusty, nutty, chalky, sharper C hop bitterness. Not much different from a stale SNPA.
