COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark, rich and frothy, Dawk’s Classic Porter is by far our heartiest brew. Roasted chocolate and black patent malts create the ominous ebony color which dominates this beer.

Opaque and richly black with a medium tannish head. A strong roasted quality to this, to the point where it takes on many coffee qualities in both aroma and taste. It lacks the chocolate nature that I prefer in porters and as such this is more of a stout than a porter. The flavor is strong and memorable. The finish is lasting and has a lingering bitterness.

Taster on tap at the brewpub. Served from a small plastic cup. Dark brown color. Near-black. Good thin light brown head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Nice cocoa, dark chocolate, and a bit of coffee. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Medium-plus body... More full and thick than the ABV would suggest, good bit of chewiness to it. Pretty impressive porter. Very satisfying.

Thanks to BVery for sharing a growler of a rare W VA tick. A dry porter. Brown color with roasted malt. On the light side in terms of flavor and palate, for the style.

Growler shared by BVery - thanks!! Dark brown pour, a little tan head. Toasty malt nose. Taste is not bad, a bit watery with some coffee hints.

January 18, 2014 - growler shared by Brian. Dark brown pour with limited head and spotty lacing. Roasted malt and little bit of chocolate and coffee. Taste was consistent with aroma, medium body and slight carbonation. Thanks Brian!

Growler. Brown mahogany pour with a smaller light beige head. Roasty and mild chocolate aroma. Decent taste but not overly bold. Medium palate. Not bad.

4 oz. sample at the brewpub. Pours black with medium beige head. Roasty aroma, medium/light body, and thin small bubble lacing. Taste is roasty and some chocolate. Easy to drink for a porter and good. My favorite NET beer.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and coffee malt, prunes, light smoke and earthy hops. Flavor is lightly bitter dark malt, light hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft at the source. Deep maroon briwn color, bright tan head. Aroma of roasted ciffee. Taste has berries, coffee, light cocoa. Tasty.

Sample at the brewpub on 9/20/13. Darkest brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and roast. Malty and chocolatey flavor with some caramel accents before a roasty finish. A straightforward porter, but very well done and the best beer I was able to try here.
