On tap at North Fork, pours a deep dark brown with a small creamy beige head. Aroma brings out bready malt and not much else. Flavour brings out lightly stale bread. Not very well-made. It’s creamy and smooth on ye palate, which is a plus, but the flavours aren’t too great. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JUL 19, 2009
draft at the brewery. on nitro. pours a jet black surging guinnessy nitro full. nice big flat tan cream head. rosaty, slightly chocolatey nose. creamy, silky nitro body. roast and chocolate mid palate. a little chalk there. not bad. bitbucket (2165) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - FEB 20, 2008
On tap at the brewpub. Pours nearly opaque blackish with a lacy tan head. Soft brown sugar and chocolate aroma, picks up some coffee and pine in the finish. Lighter on the aroma and flavor than I’d like to see. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 6, 2005

Deep brown with some purple and brown light through the edges of the glass. Medium body, smoky and full of coffee and a wet-tasting chocolate malt flavor. Decent overall, a little thin - finishes with some vegetable or grass flavor. Needs to be thicker, with more of the chocolate and smoky malt flavors.
Dark mahogany with chestnut highlights. Light flavour - especially considering how strong this beer is. Nutty, almondy flavours make for a pleasant if unassuming porter.

Dark brown, almost black beer. Sweet malty aroma. A bit of root beer, toasted nut flavour. No roastiness. Reasonably sweet finish. Caramel, toast, light licorice character. Nice mouthfeel, a solid porter. BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 11, 2003
A little thin for a porter but did have a nice taste and poured and looked good. More flavour would make this one a little richer and tastier. drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2003
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2003 I'm a big fan of Porters, and I'm a big fan of this bar/pizza place/wedding chapel, but this was not at the top of my list. Very thin, strangely bitter, and unimpressionable. The traditional porter roastiness wasn't really there at all, there was some definite astringent qualities I didn't much care for, and besides the slight hints of coffee, there wasn't much distinguishable flavor. The pizza was really good though.
