COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
North Peak Darkangel is robust and dry with a finishing touch of tart cherry. The roast barley quickly gives way to the subtle chocolate malt and rich Crystal 30.Chinook and Centennial hops put forth a sharp clean bitterness that is followed by a medium malt body balanced with Challenger hops, ending with a smooth dry, tart finish and strong Galena nose. It is brewed in Traverse City, MI, on Old Mission Peninsula incorporating locally grown hops.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted dark chocolate and complex soft hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is an interesting unbalanced brew.

Cask. Reddish brown with a small off white head. Both aroma and flavor dominated by cherry with the normal porter flavors mainly overpowered. Not really to my taste.

This beer pours a dark ruby brown color with a thin light beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate malt and cherries. Light body with a semi-sweet cherry character and notes of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. The finish is short and malty. Slightly above average overall.

On tap at JP in Ann Arbor. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of cherries, lighter roast, and some chocolate. Although thinner, I found this quite drinkable and enjoyable.

On tap during the Biere De Goord release. Poured near black with a red hue and a light cream brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had some tart cherries a bit of alcohol and a dark grain backbone. The cherries were a bit overly tart on the tongue, basically acidic. The cherries really battled the dark grains and it made for an odd combination.

Bottle thanks to Thanimal. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is lightly cherry, light roast and some coppery metallic notes. And the metallic flavor carries through on the tongue, light bitterness...roasty and very little cherry notes.

2011-11-12. Dark red tinged brown body, small tan head. 3+ Flavour is tart fruity cherry cherry over muted porter base, mild roasty touches. Bit muddled but pleasant. 6+ Mild aroma, mild fruit over very mild porter character. Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Mild overall, but nice. On tap at Jolly Pumpkin Cafe, Ann Arbor

[4106-20111112] Tap. Window washer fluid aroma ha a bit of a muted grainy pillow. Clear, dark amber cola body with a quick foamy off-white head. Light sour toast flavour has a little grain and caramel hints. Medium body. Good. (6/3/6/3/14) 3.2

12oz bottle. Nearly pitch black color with a cherry-red hue, minimal offwhite khaki head. Looks like a decent-looking cherry porter. Pretty good cherry sweet taste in the balanced dark chocolate aroma. Light, drinkable, not too carbonated, and a great sweet fruit taste. This porter meets expectations. A nice change of pace.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. From Shep. A dark copper pour with little head and itbis clear with as much red as black. A very malty nose. The flavor offers a bit of hops with that malt. They are fruity and are subtle. This is kind of thin on the flavor.
