Pours a rich, dark copper with 2-inch tan head that was initially persistent, but then disappeared completely leaving some Belgian lace. It provided an initial nose of toasted bread and biscuits. Some floral hops? Not so sure. Medium body with slightly unpleasant metallic taste mixed with caramel and butter. Short on the palate. Not a favorite. blackflag321 (705) - Lansing, Michigan, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Drank several over a weekend. I thought the coppery taste of the first one was just a bad bottle, but it was there in the others, too. Mediocre. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 7, 2013
On draft at JP Ann Arbor. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Nose is some toasted malts, some bread, some slight biscuit character, and mild floral hops. Flavor is similar with bread, toast, biscuit, and some fruity and floral hops. Mild bitterness in the finish. 574deadzone (1420) - North Central, Indiana, USA - JUN 17, 2013
On tap. Pours a deep amber brown with a thinner eggshell head. Nose involves quite a bit of caramel, some honey, orange, toast, toffee, and nuts. Pretty sweet with a fair bitterness. Medium bodied, fair carb, with an herbal bitter finish. A decent, drinkable brew, but kind of dull. Not especially exciting. polomagnifico (1202) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - APR 24, 2013
Draft. Aroma has notes of cereal malts and fruits. Medium amber hue with an average off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is medium bodied and watery average. Overall a decent brew with a little infection going on.

I really wanted to like this more than I did, the only thing holding me back from rating it higher was the beer itself. It has a cool label design and comes in a cool stubby bottle ala Red Stripe. That’s really where the good stuff ends, not much worth reporting otherwise. Just pretty mediocre, I would like it better if it was free. I would drink it again, I just wouldn’t pay for it again. njager246 (699) - grand rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 24, 2013
In a bottle... a fruity aroma...good smooth amber taste... a pretty good all around beer oyamac (30) - Michigan, USA - FEB 8, 2013
I do not like the aroma on this beer, there is just something about it. Color is a standard ale. Decent taste. Not a fan.

12 oz bottle, Whole Foods Columbus. Pours amber (as expected); big, white, rocky head quickly dissipates to a thin covering. Aroma quite weak; predominantly bready malt; sweet toast. Flavor bears significant resemblance to Newcastle Brown; malt and caramel and buttery; finish surprisingly dry. Mediocre beer. Ratman197 (15624) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 2, 2012
Stubby bottle poured a clear amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and a hint of fuittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of camel and earthiness with a crisp dry lingering earthy finish.
