1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: DEC 3, 2007 The stuff on draft was pretty good, but they have big problems with their bottling line, so the package brews are dragging it down. I have to average two ratings:
Draft, at Northwoods: 6/10 3/5 6/10 3/5 11/20 Rating: 2.9
The bartender compared this to a Honey Weiss, presumably seeking a comparison to the Leinenkugel boys further up the road. A slightly spritzy wheatlike character indeed in a pale malt color. Just a taste of honey comes through.

Cracking the top, I get an immediate whiff of salted peanut shells. Pours with no head and a pale yellow color with little particles suspended throughout. Taste is like peanut shells, too, or Hiney Weiss gone stale, but at least with a little hint of wheat. Could it be that the bottles on premises are old?
Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and bread with a hint of honey. Flavor has more of an earthy straw note with some honey and a bit of plastic. pablo951 (691) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2013
Had it on tap at Northwoods BrewPub. Poured a clear golden hue with no aroma, no lacing or head and a tangy bitter weak hop taste. ChiGuy68 (626) - Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2013
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2013 Tasted at Northwoods Brewpub. Clear golden color with a thin white head. You can taste a hint of honey.

12oz bottle from the brewpub. Hazy orange-tan. Thin, patchy white head. Odd sour aroma, quite bad. I don’t really get much honey in it. Really quite a cheap, unprofessional feel to it. Maybe the most boring honey ale imaginable..though Ill bet the honey smooths out the rough edges a bit. Avoid. esjaygee (3902) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 14, 2011
Bottle from Skyview, thanks! Bubba shot the jukeBox last night, because he drank a bad beer, that made him cry… Golden yellow with a 50/50 airy white head to beer ratio. Aroma of heavy grains, malt, bad brewpub beer and very light honey. Taste of honey, grains, malt and mild lemon. Thin and over-carbonated with a prickly finish.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap at Northwoods in Eau Claire, WI on Nov. 18, 2011. Pale yellow pour with a small clingy white head. Grain and corn, quite watery. Bleh. crossovert (14134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 17, 2011
Could they make more of a generic beer? It tastes like malt extract but with carbonation. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUL 26, 2009
Tap at the brewpub. Medium gold pour with a white head. Very light aroma, some maltiness and a little honey sweetness. Flavor was light as well a touch of sweetness, but not much else. ChainGangGuy (4941) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - OCT 4, 2007
Appearance: Pours a clear, bright yellow body with a thin, wispy white head.
Smell: A light aroma of corn niblets, discount honey, and lemon wedges.
Taste: While corn and honey can come together to create candy corn, a Halloween delight, they don’t go well together in a beer. Light, tart citrus flavor and faint spicy hops on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: This is one bee that needs to die off. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - SEP 30, 2007
