Polotmavy is a hoppy amber lager that is all about the malt. It has a full flavor yet dry finish, toasted aroma yet floral hops, and a malty yet spicy flavor. So OK, it’s about the hops too. 100% Czech Saaz hops. Polotmavy is loosely translated as "half-dark" or amber as we know it, and is yet another style of Czech beer rarely found in the US. Na zdraví!

Ugly haze, not much head. Dull amber-brown. Not a good like. Smells nice, caramelly crackery malts. Sweet and with a soft caramel and just a touch of toastiness. Still something not quite right.

In my extensive polotmavy experience this one rates about average. Hazy maroon pour with great head and lacing. Light crisp finish. Note of mash malt. Tap at Deep Ellum.

22oz Bottle. Ripe fruit nose, filled with webby strong Brett, cotton, and coconut. This carries a very strong Jolly Pumpkin funk element. Ever so lightly tart, but distinctly brett with wood, cherries, and leather. Tiny bit too much ethyl acetate for me. A very nice funky session beer, but unfortunately the bugs have left very little to the base beneath and I have no idea what this tasted like before it was infected. One of those accidental funky beers that’s worth drinking.

I was so unimpressed with Notch, I had actually left while the brewer talked to me in a small group of tasters at Leary’s a few months back. It was indeed a rude thing to do, I reflect. But I can’t pretend to worry about something that truly had bored me to death. Pours a a clear golden... smells and tastes of toast crumbs, bread, hops and table sugar, but in the least balanced way possible. Also I get some plastic and metal by swallow.

22 oz bottle from Julio’s. Pours out a light golden-amber color. Nice head. Thick lace. Good carbonation. Aroma is grassy. Flavor is lightly sweet with a drying bitterness. Leaves a sticky feeling in the mouth. Not very refreshing at all.

thornecb (6018) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Pours nice orange harvest brown into a shaker. Weak head recedes to mottle surface. Sweet mild roasted nut aromas. Soft with sour apple and aging vegetables upfront turning to an earthy bitter finish.

fresh bottle. aroma of dry toasted macademia nuts. walnuts. pleasant grass and citric hop presence provides some enjoyable bitterness. touch of toasty graham cracker and brown sugar sweetness adds some nice balance. well made. like quite a bit. sessionable, tasty, complex amber lager bia.
