Cask-conditioned at the Wellington, Birmingham 31/08/10. Near black in colour with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, slightly ashy malts and dark fruit. Flavour had more chocolate and fruit, a slightly sour edge and soft, bitter finish, Very enjoyable.

Cask at GBBF 2010. Pours a chocolate black with no head. Real fruity aroma with roasted malts. Real malty and fruity taste which leads to a good dry finish.

Ethereal (2421) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 27, 2010
Cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 10th Feb 2010. Very dark brown. Quite watery. Nasty aroma - I think renfissch’s comment was "slug slime" - I got ammonia and off milk/cheese. Flavour has some of the same characteristics. Some dark fruits. Cleanish finish.

Cask. Aroma has light notes of coffee, candied malt, deep auburn, red at the sides, pours a small toffee head, leaves some pretty lace. Flavour is roasted malt, a bit of coffee. Light bodied, very well balanced, lovely bitterness, a smooth suppin’ beer. Terrific session!

(Cask at Pembury Tavern, Hackney, London, 20 Nov 2008) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, dark fruit and prunes. Roasted, malty taste with coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and hints of citrus in a fairly bitter finish. More hops than usuallly found in a mild. Fairly thin body. Nice and tasty mild.
