COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US, called BrouCzech Dark.

Pyrope or Bohemian garnet stones were randomly collected in our territory by ancient Celts. It is a stone of all-binding fire, passion as well as purity of heart. However, it is generally known as a stone of love. Thanks to its typical colour, its name has been used metaphorically in connection with the colour of dark and semi-dark beers. Granat from Nova Paka is a dark sweeter lager with quality rich foam that is suitable for mixing pale types; alcohol 5%.

Sigmund (7957) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 30, 2014
Shared 500 ml bottle, from Donslund Vine, as Novopacké pivo Granát, at local tasting. ABV is 5.0%. Dark reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts and brown bread. Nice flavour, not too sweet, malty and mildly roasty notes, dark brown bread, chocolate and a hint of mild coffee. Very drinkable.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2014 Not much on the nose ... malty, maybe a bit herbal. Nice looking beer. Medium dark, light-brown head that quickly dissipates but lingers on the glass. Not overly carbonated. Almost like the beer is a cross between a dark lager and a bit of a stout. Dark, rich roasted flavors, chocolate/coffee with some creaminess, maybe a little bit sweet at first but dry on the finish. Hints of wood, charcoal, moderate bitterness ... tastes linger on the palate. Overall, a rich, chewy, enjoyable beer.

Tap at Novopacka pivaren. Aroma mild once again, DMS vegetal astringency, light coffee. Dark brown colour, clear. Beige head, moderate duration. Taste is roasty up front, acompanied by the tragic DMS. Overall more drinkable than Krystof, but still poor.
