Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij until 2005
A stout made with roasted barley, tonic and invigorating, with a well-conditioned, slight but distinctive bitterness. Noire de Stack is perfect for beer-tasting and goes very well with smoked fish, oysters and delicatessen meats.

PotjeBier (3735) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 12, 2015
33 cl bottle @ home, bought a a Lille market over a year ago. Black color. Thick, dense beige head with long retention. Aroma’s: red fruit, a bit roast. Retronasal there’s more roast, but still fruit as well, light sweet. Flavor is light sweet, light roast, coffee-ish, light fruity. Light to medium bodied. Short finish, with some roast. Decent, but more a Schwarz than a stout.

Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. Well, great taste, but no aftertaste. In fact, it’s a shame

From Produits du Nord in Cassel, taken home to Cambridge. Billed as for eating with smoked fish but actually accompanied by Japanese dried fish - not quite the same. A lightly smoked stout with an adequate body and some presence. I would do it again.

Bottle from Les Bières de Célestin, Lille - FR. Color: deep dark black beer with medium carbonation and medium heavy ivory/ beige white foam. Smell: malt and black bread domination. Notes of yeast. Small black chocolate notes. Taste: standard stout sensation on mouth. Taste of roasted malt and chocolate, notes of coffee. Small caramel finish. Easy drinkable. Very good beer. Well done by the style. Aftertaste: roasted malt and chocolate finish. Very nice beer. I recommend it !

Holmen2 (4043) - NORWAY - MAR 24, 2015
Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 24.03.15. Black. Pale brown head and lacing. Aroma of roasted barley, sweet dark chocolate and coffee. Similar taste, also with vanilla. Fine aftertaste, with vanilla and dark chocolate. Perhaps a bit waterish and overcarbonated.

wheresthepath (2395) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 12, 2014
Bottle from Auchan supermarket in Calais. Ruby-black with a craggy beige head and a very light but prickly fizz. Creamy chocolate Horlicks to the front with a bit of black coffee, a waft of smoke and a slight sour and metallic note. Maybe some blackberry too. Sweetish up front but drying in the finish. The flavours are a little subdued but yeah, this is not bad.

18-SEP-2014, bottle @Gamlere. Clear dark, dark Brown with lasting tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, soap (but in a nice way), spice. Taste the same with a slight roast, chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation, a Little sweetnes. Fine.

3.7
erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - SEP 3, 2014
Black bodied and stable small tan head. Very toasty, roasty, chocolate brownie, some creamy undertone. Not very dry, but I actually like it, as it works well with the dark malts they’ve used. Herbal (Emglish) hops to only support, and doing that well. Soft sweet toasty start with a more pronounced bitter finish. Classic yet actually very well done. Certainly not imperial but with a very full mouthfeel for the abv. Really big surprise, as I expected a thin dull and poorly made stout but got a real (classic) craft treat! (75cl bottle from Le Bon Marché Paris)
