750 ml bottle. HHOKX. From Tardinghen, France.Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 1, 2011
Black colour with average size fluffy light tan head.
Liquorice, salty liquorice, roasted malt and mild coffee in aroma.
Coffee, mild caramel, liquorice, roasted malt and mild berry bitterness in flavour. Smooth but thin and watery.
Big vast fluffy light brown to tan head on top of a black beer.
Smell vanilla, roasted malts, coffee, hints of coal, smoke and dark fruits.
Taste is a watery mix of coffee, roasted malts, light liquorice, light coal, hint of spices and a hint of earth.
A good bitter aftertaste with slight hints of coffee and herbs.
Low to medium carbo, soft light tingly mouthfeel, watery body and texture.
If the body was thicker and more towards creamy oily, this would be a very good stout. Nonetheless still ok. abemorsten (3593) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - SEP 12, 2011
Big bottle kindly shared by Sigmund. Label says Christophe Noyon Bière Noire de Slack. Once this beer was opened it was eager to leave the bottle, even before we started pouring. Clear, deep ruby body with a creamy, inch thick, light brown head. Spicy, roasted, yeasty and light sour aroma. Light sweet, light acidic and light bitter flavors with notes of ash and fruits along with roasted tones. Medium body. A tad watery, but smooth, Dry tongue. Lubiere (13796) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 9, 2011
A deep dark brown stout with a thick frothy brown head. In aroma, a herbaceous chocolate, with warming alcohol, peaty, a bit strange. In mouth, a light peaty chocolate with a nice smoky attack, burned wood, herbal, not bad. Bottle from Paris, bought in May 2011. Shared with probstk, Aug. 21 2011. probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2011

App.: Deep brown-black with a large light tan fluffy froth.
Aroma: Very tight nose, a touch metallic, slightly fishy??, hints of chocolate and mineral, leafy, herbs, a wee touch of fruitiness, when warmer, some grape-chocolate notes appear.
Palate: Medium body, fairly sparse effervescence, powdery.
Flav.: Much more generous than the nose, chocolate, coffee, a touch nutty, minerals, decent; dry with alright bitterness and a reasonable dark-roasted malt finish.
malt, caramel, coffee, black/brown, brown foam, medium bitterness, medium body, average carbonation,
Bottled. A classic brown beer. Strong coffee, plus some caramel and malt. Good thing is that she’s not violent: 5.4° . Rare for a brown beer. Sigmund (7390) - Tau, NORWAY - SEP 2, 2011
Shared 750 ml corked and wired bottle, as Christophe Noyon Bière Noire de Slack, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV 5.4%. Black colour, decent beige head. Dry roasty and ashy aroma. Dry, moderately roasty and slightly ashy flavour. The hops are too moderate, otherwise a decent dry stout. . Quack-Duck (9484) - Down South, GERMANY - AUG 29, 2011
bottle from Calais Vins. Deep brown/black colour, mid-sized brown-beigehead. Aroma of licorice and coffee. Light-bodied, shy malt flavours, lots of espresso coffee and licorice, hints of caramel and cocoa powder, perhaps bitter chocolate. Smooth palate.
