COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Note: Unaged, nameless version pre-released in september 2007. Officially released as Bötet Barley Wine in september 2008.

Akkurat, Stockholm bottle: Pours red with no head. Aroma is honey, candy, and cake and all sorts of other sweet stuff. Beer has a boozy honey taste. It is indeed very sweet. In effect, it is a pretty standard booze-filled barley wine. Not really my favourite style, but it was my brother who had order this fine brew.

Sampled from bottle @ HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival 2012. Dark golden body with a small off-white head. Aroma of dry fruit, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, dry fruit, caramel malt, warming alcohol and balanced bitterness. Fine body and a long and sweet aftertaste with warming alcohol. Nothing really extraordinary here, but definitively well made and a pleasant sipper.

2009 edition. 2 finger beige head that sank to 5mm, amber body. Nose: Caramel, madeira, figs and raisins. Aroma: Caramel, raisins, figs, madeira and brown-sugar. Vineous. Some hop bitterness still present. I love this bottle-size (250ml) for beer with high alcohol-content.

Det här gott årgång 2009. Smak av fikon, karamell, marsipan. Rund och krämig, fin sötma med en tydlig beska på slutet.

2009 Bottle thanks to blomster, pour a murky amber with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee malts, figs, and dark fruits. Taste is a lot more thin then I expected from the aroma, a good thing, the malts are balanced nicely with some fruits and bitterness on the edges, no detection of alcohol. Really nice taste of malts without the alcohol bite.

Clear deep amber beer. Light off white frothy head. Rich malt nose. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Rich toffee malt, slightly creamy. Just a little fruity hop peeping through at the end. Fairly simple but sumptuous and well joined up.

At HanndFestival 2012. Clear amber, no carboanation to speak of. Caramel nose. Bittersweet, nuts, caramel, some fine sourness in the tail.

Almost no pop when the cap came off, what little carb was there drifted to a little island in the middles of the glass. Smells crazy sweert, lots of fruit in this one. Plum, dates, raisin and some fig. Taste is boozey, but still sweet. I detect the fruits but they are hidden behind the alcohol. Nice beer though

Can’t remember who sent this to me, but thanks! Pours a clear syrupy amber with a gray head that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of sweet grains and caramel with just a hint of light fruit. Flavor begins with light fruit but is full of caramel, toffee and sweet grains with a hint of backing alcohol.

Bottle(kindly donated by Jonas!): Amber, hazy, small off-white foamy layer, sweet nutty-caramelly nose , some dried figues and raisins detectable, pretty well hidden alcohol underneath; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour with a full body; sweet raisins in the finish, later a distinctive hoppy tail. A very well drinkable Barley Wine…
