COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Note: Unaged, nameless version pre-released in september 2007. Officially released as Bötet Barley Wine in september 2008.

Bottle at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan. Cloudy reddish brown, large bubbly edge head. Aroma of caramel and toffee. Taste is sweet butterscotch. Not bad as barley wines go.

250mL. The pour is a clear tea amber with no head formation. Aroma is apple oxidation, old sherry, juice box. Taste is honey, sickly sweet, syrupy. Cloying to the max. Not my style. Ick.

500ml bottle, BBF 2010-05. Pours a deep amber, with a white head. Big, well matured nose, lots of fruit and malt, and a quite pronounced hop character, hints of yeast, marzipan, chocolate, madeira, plums, dried fruits. Fairly dry, full bodied, rather thick, medium bitterness. Very rich, complex, elegant and mature taste, malty, fruity, balanced hop notes, dried fruits, madeira, marzipan, yeast, almost some wood, dark chocolate, leather. Long, rich aftertaste, clean finish. (2010-12-07)

25cl bottle into a snifter at Glenfiddich warehouse #68 Stockholm. The beer pours a super light brown, totally clear with hints of amber, just looks watery and unappealing. Total lack of head, no lacing...Aroma smells like a typical bw but with too much alcohol. Caramel, alcohol, light hop finish...The taste is super light, that’s the first thing, annoyingly so and distracting. Alcohol shows through too much, light caramel and a touch of hops...Feel is bad as we mentioned, however this is super easy to drink at 9.1%. Ok and easy to drink bw but nothing to search out for. If you’re in Sweden at a local place worth a shot.

0,25 l bottle as a gift, thanks Ompher!.
Deep amber, opalescent beer with some nice reddish tones, creamy foamy tan head that diminishes slowly to a small lacing one. Fruity and spicey aroma with dried fruits, plum, figs and raisins, vanilla and cinnamon, honey, some ginger. Oily consistance with a lot of spicies like clove, coriander, cinnamon and vanilla. Wood, tannin and hops makes the finish dry, the well hidden alcohol warms me up and makes a nice bittersweet aftertaste. Really fine.

(25cl bottle) Courtesy of Jonas. Pours an orange amber with very little lacing. Nose of toffee. Very oily texture. Rich roasted malt flavour, some citrus hoppiness with a mild vanilla finish. Reminds me of Fat Cat’s Old Bad Cat. Good.

Ober (2811) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - NOV 4, 2010
A clear brown colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of caramel, coffee candy. There are spices with dark fruits. The taste of caramel, a little sticky. It’s spicy with some bitter. The aftertaste is some bitter with hints of sweet and spicy.

3.2
SirLimpsalot (4549) - SWEDEN - NOV 2, 2010
En mycket stabil Barley Wine som är ganska brun i färgen, tunt skum och med en smått fantastisk doft av mörka frukter (typ plommon), lite russin, lakrits och en liten gnugga jäst.
