COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Note: Unaged, nameless version pre-released in september 2007. Officially released as Bötet Barley Wine in september 2008.

Clear dark amber colour, medium size off-white head with decent retention. Aroma of pear brandy and biscuits. Malty and sweet with a little sting from the alcohol and a slight bitterness in the finish. Medium to full mouthfeel. Medium to low carbonation. Could be a little heftier, but this is a really good English style barley wine

Amber to red colored beer. Nose of oxydation, lots of fruits and some alcohol. Fruity flavors but also port and madeira from the oxydation. Complex and well balanced beer.

2011 edition, bottle at home. Pours cloudy amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, figs, muscovado sugar, caramellized apples. Taste is caramel, figs, raisins, ripe apples, muscovado sugar, burnt sugar. Mouthfeel is just slightly too thin, otherwise a very fine Barley Wine that’s aged well.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A pretty solid barleywine, my bottle was a 2014. A bit sweeter than what I was hoping for or desired at the moment though my wife truly loved this. Very excited to try the barrel aged version relieved via trade with hackobock!

Tap. Moeder Lambic Original. Chalkboard states 2014. Reddy, copper colour. Soft haze. Swirly, dense, lasting, cream coloured head. Nose has toasty, buttery malts. Dried vine fruit. Dried fig. Fruity toffee. Some caramel brittle. Taste is sweet and figgy. Lots of chew. Some vinous bitterness comes through. Medium body. Soft fizz. Pretty easy drinking for the ABV. Sticky sweet finish, with a nicely balanced, vinous close. Nice one.

Drank A 2015 edition early in 2017, so aged for at least a year. An aroma of caramel, bread and alcohol. Poured clear with almost no foam, colour was amber. It had a slightly oily texture and tasted sweetly of barley.

Cask at SBWF, unofficial realese. Hazy reddish amber with a low white foam. Sweet fruity aroma of flowers, raisins, candied nectarines and caramel with a serius amount of grapefruity hops on top of it. Full bittersweet flavour of flowers, caramel, cherries and grapefruit. Alcohol, flowers and caramel in the long aftertaste.
