Served on-tap with an extraordinary domed head. It settles very slowly, leaving chunky ring lace after each sip. The liquid is dark amber (or light brown) and is crystal clear.
Hoppy first, but then I note some crystal malt with a bit of sweetness and nuttiness.
This is a hoppy brown ale. It starts off with a nice, almost chocolately, darker malt flavor. There’s a touch of brewer’s yeast in the background. The bittering hop pops out in the swallow but it fades in the aftertaste, leaving a biscuity finish. Rich body, particulary for the style. MrWalker (926) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2005

Quite hop aromatic for a brown ale. Slightly medicinal taste. Bread-full and low on bitterness. 6/3/6/4/12 3.1

A completely different brew. Aroma so full of flowery hops (Fuggles?). Full bodied malty taste with flowery hops and a cereal finish. Great one!
UPDATED: APR 28, 2007 Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse, 68, Stockholm. This is a review of the latest btach (served in April 2007).Pours out in a hazy brown colour topped with a rich and sticky white head. Huge hoppy aroma, not piney or grassy, just the Nynäshamns trademark hoppiness of cedar-wood and grapefruit-peels with malty notes of roasted malts and spun sugar just to balance things out. Medium bodied with strong hoppy and bitter notes of cedar-wood and lemon-peels. Hints of milky chocolate. Long dryish finish of toasted malts, wood, grapefruit and gun-smoke. Probably one of the most unbalanced brown ale I’ve sampled but the the flavours and the hops is really tasty. Old rating 3.4.

Brown with thin white head.
Aroma of roasted fresh malt, hops and grains.
Malty flavour with notes of licorice, chocolate and hops. Elegant bitterness.

Draught at The Rover, Göteborg.
Good pale brown head that lasted throughout the drink. A mouthwatering aroma, hinting at a, for a Brown Ale, unusual hoppiness and a lovely dry, slightly citrusy flavour with a refreshing bitterness.

(Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse No 68, Stockholm) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy off-white head. Fruity nose with dark fruit, yeast, hints of smoke and lots of earthy hops. Fruity taste with dark fruit, caramel, yeast and lots of earthy hops in the finish. More tasty and bitter than any other brown ale I’ve tried. Probably not true to the style, but actually better. Rather magnificent, actually. Furseth (2165) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - JUN 26, 2007

Draught. Amber-brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma is pure butterscotch with some nice fruity notes. Flavour has a pronounced sweetness with notes of butterscotch and some dried fruits. Also some roasted (and a bit smokey) notes. Nice! Defreni (3286) - Husum, DENMARK - APR 4, 2008
Flaske. Virkelig imponerende skum på en brun øl. Dejlig frisk duft umiddelbart men bagved kan de brændte lidt tungere dufte godt anes. Dejlig smag med et godt bid. Superlækker brown ale.
