[Vintage 2004, sampled September 2005] A hazy red-brown beer with a huge very dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of herbs and celery. The flavor is very roasted and with strong notes of herbs as well as lesser notes of grass, on a thin body. joergen (28102) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 25, 2006
Brown coloured with an off white head.
Aroma of spices, malts and fruits.
Roasted flavour of malts and spices. anders37 (26588) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAR 25, 2005
Dark brown colour. Off white head that just leaves alot of lacing. Lots of spices in the aroma, cloves is one of them. Has some smoakiness in the aroma too. It has cloves in the taste and also licorice, roasted malt too and a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. A very nice beer.

Black. Roasty and spicy nose with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin. Malty, fruity and rather sweet with pleasant warming, filling mouthfeel. Some licorice and plesant bitterness in the finish. An excellent, well balanced spiced winter ale, leaning towards a strong porter.
Rating (draught) for earlier version (under the name Järflotta Julöl):
A dark chestnut brown winter ale. Rather malty, burnt flavours, somewhat grassy hop aroma with a complex spicyness and big late graperuit bitterness. The 2001/2002 rendition seem more balanced than previous years. 6/4/6/3/14

Very dark brown but clear beer. Thin head. Not much carbonation. Smooth malt with a distinct fruity note of cherry and raspberry. Just a hint of smoke. No bitterness. Very smooth indeed. Slight saccharine dryness in the finish. Unusual and tasty.
