"Forty Niner" Gold Lager is an excellent entrant in the Lager style. The folks at the NABA also thought so, giving the beer a Gold Medal in 2002. Forty Niner Gold has a very pleasant aroma, though I could not identify specific elements. The appearance is deep gold, with good lace and a fine bubble head. There is a good balance of hops and malt. Could be a bit hoppier, but that might mean deviating from the style. The brew was a little less full-bodied than I like, but once again, sometimes you are simply restricted by your category. GuilTTy (2264) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JUL 26, 2006
One of the 7 Dwarves in the Oak Creek tasting set. Not much to it say: its a pale lager and it looks, smells and tastes like one - in other words, there isn’t much to see, smell or taste (especially in comparison to the other brews on the tasting platter). I’ll admit that it had more flavor and slightly more texture than a macro lager but that’s about it. Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 15, 2009
Bottle. Pours a medium gold with a one finger white head that fades into a persistent soap scum topper. Nose is sweet malt and lager hops. Taste is light corn syrup, honey and grassy hops. Medium mouth feel. Not too bad. Glad to see this brewery bottling more of their line-up. dcschiller (2211) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 1, 2013
On draught at Oak Creek. Pours a copper color with eggshell head. Aroma is cracker, diacetyl and light hops. Taste is sweet and follows suit. Medium bodied and slick. Not bad. Kevin (2201) - Montana, USA - FEB 20, 2005

Light grain aroma. Clear golden color with a small white head. Moderate sweet fruity and bitter beginning. Fades lightly in the finish. SDbruboy (1863) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 11, 2005
Bottle. Fairly typical golden lager, with a mild, crisp hop aroma. Slightly sweet malty flavor with balancing hoppiness. Light body and crisp carbonation. jason (1836) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2007
Bottle. Thanks to cbkschubert. Poured a hazy golden body with huge head. Grainy aroma, crisp. Flavor is light grain, light malt, slightly bitter. Not bad for a pale lager. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - FEB 24, 2005
Bottle. Smells like rotten fruit and pesticide. Tastes kind of flat, and vaguely like watered down lemon juice with some wheat. This is a bad, bad beer. Reimer96 (1778) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 28, 2015
A very nice easy drinking bohemian pils. Clean finish with a bit of crispness from the hops but not as sharp as a bohemian should be. Up the Nobel hops and this will be a gem... Nice clean pilsner yeast profile.
