Dark copper body, with a medium, creamy, beige head.
Aroma with loads of dried fruits, vanilla, biscuit, some berries, oak.
Taste is pretty hoppy, with citrus, berries, stone fruits, pine, tea, imbedded in lots of smooth malts, like caramel, vanilla, biscuit, with nice, subtle, dry oak notes.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
In the finish there are lots of dry oak notes finally, with bitter, zesty hops and subtle malts.
Tasty! Complex, multifarious and really smooth to drink, all with a quite moderate ABV. The dry oak notes add another enjoyable level. Great beer with a lot of character and good drinkability at the same time!
Clear, copper-red-brown beer with a lot of yeast parts in the beer.
White-beige, three finger high, fluffy, head thats leaves a LOT of lacing on the glass. Almoust chunk of head left! JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 30, 2014
Nose: Butter, smoke, oak, wood, vanilla and hops.
Taste: Bread, caramel malt, dried fruit, molasses, grapefruit and oak.
Body: Medium to full body. Great bitterness.
A beatiful beer with an ABV of 7.2% that is very well hidden. Great taste and mothfeel! I recommend it!
Deep amber/copper pour with a 3/4 inch long lasting light tan head.. great lacing.
Big bitter smell and pine/citrus polished off with freshly sanded wood ... toasted malts and fresh biscuits.
Taste is BIG. BITTER with enough sweetness to balance nicely. There is a looong finish here. Creamy cocoa, vanilla, harsh pine needles and grapefruit bitterness, just simply a thick thick thick palate ... sooo many things going on here ... when said and done, a dry piney/lip smacking woodiness sticks around for ages. hansongreg89 (10) - CANADA - NOV 27, 2014
Appears a dark garnet hue and makes a thick creamy offwhite head. The in-your-face chinook hops that are present in regular arrogant bastard ale are nearly gone here and replaced with a very smooth oaky/vanilla. Flavor is very round about the most well balanced I have ever seen from a Stone product. The elements of the chinook hops are again subdued by a velvety layering of vanilla. This is very rich. Medium to full body on the palate with a very creamy finish. I really wish this were a regular offering, it is incredible. Tsekouratos (603) - Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, GREECE - NOV 27, 2014

Poured a dark bronze with a thin light head. Aromas of caramel, toasty grains, and apricot. Tastes of roasted nuts, smokey wood chips and sweet malt. Medium body with mild carbonation. Overall very good. Arcadia (61) - DeLand, Florida, USA - NOV 4, 2014
Bottle from ABC. Pours a thick, dark brown with a very thin head; gone almost instantly. Smells of caramel maltiness and faint vanilla. Dark fruits abound. The oak taste definitely comes through for me. Full bodied, oily, thick mouthfeel and a really smooth finish. Acquire.
