clear amber, thin fine dirty white head, thick drippy lace,
big sweet grapefruit aroma,
rich caramel malt flavor with lots of the citrus grapefruit flavor, touch of dyactyl in the background adds distraction as it slowly builds
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20
Thanks to hopdog for sharing this growler. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a smaller bubbly white head that left some lacing. Aroma of a handful of hop pellets, lots of pine, grapefruit, some caramel malt hidden in there. Flavors of fresh hops, pine, grapefruit, some floral, caramel malt and a nice malt bitterness. hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2007
Growler acquired in trade with Sephiroth (big thanks for shipping a Growler out!). Poured a medium and cloudy orange color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, light pine, and had a fresh green hoppiness to it. Tastes of citrus and had that fresh green hoppiness to it. Grapefruit bitter finish. Lots of lacing left on the glass. Light to medium bitterness. smoosh (536) - New Albany, Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2006
Draft - big grassy hop nose. Orangey colored with a nice beige head. I found this beer to be very straight-forward and quite one-dimensional. Okay, but far from great. muenster (345) - Sevierville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 14, 2006
Draught at oaken Barrel. Poured a copper reddish color. Foamy off-white head. Lots of noticable hops, citrus in the aroma, almost like a double IPA. Flavor has the qualities of a double IPA, with some caramel and a nice bittering hop finish. A very nice IPA.

Draft at brewpub. Poured a deep amber color with a moderate white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Heavy hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body. Moderate well balanced hoppy bitter flavor with a long bitter finish. Best of the brews I tried. hippie4beer (162) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - FEB 18, 2006
Draft at brewpub. Pours an amber color with a medium sized beige that faded quickly and left amazing glass lacing. Aroma was difficult to gather, but it makes me think of very fresh "green" hops. Flavor has a light hop bittnerness (70 IBUs I think) smooth long lasting dry hop finish, flavor really stick with you. Thin lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Not bad, mmmbeergood (14) - Elburn, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2005
This is the beer that I drink most often when at the Oaken Barrel Pub. Nice grassy aroma. Great mouthfeel. Well balanced between the malt and the hops. This brew goes especially well with the ribs they serve. jahughey (65) - Franklin, Indiana, USA - SEP 24, 2005
Complex IPA, not the cookie-cutter variety. Solidly amber, with citrus/floral/spicy hop aroma- several varieties I suspect. Firm caramel malt base with some sweetness provides a good canvas for the assertive hopping, in both bitterness and flavor. Maltier than most IPAs, a good thing. This is a unique India, one of their best efforts. jcr (2784) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - AUG 22, 2005
Tap: More complex than the straight-ahead cascade IPA. A variety of hops come through both in aroma and flavor. Nose is floral and citrusy. Flavor has an undercurrent of caramel overriden by the flavors of grapefruit, orange and other fruits. Nice bitterness throughout.
