This is my kind of nectar. Draught at the holy in etruria. Golden body, foamy white head. Smells of warmed pineapple. Tastes of mango. Dry, hoppy finish. Lord, it’s nearly 6% and I’ve quaffed it in a trice. bobinlondon (1297) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2013
Hand pulled cask at the Farmers Boy, St. Albans. I was delighted to see this here, as it had sold out on my visit to the Peterborough BF two weeks earlier. A 20th anniversary celebration beer from my favourite brewery had to be something special and this certainly did not disappoint. Clear gold with a lively unsparkled collar. Pungent exotic US hop aroma followed by the magnificent balance of a multi layered tropical fruit hop profile and clean juicy malts, that so few breweries seem to come close to. Stunning! I’d also like to recommend the Farmers Boy which always seems to stock a selection of Oakham cask beers (4 on this occasion) as well as a house beer brewed out the back at the consistently creative Verulam brewery. UPDATED: JAN 4, 2014 A slightly cloudy yellow ale with a soup bubble head. Strong grapefruit aroma, fruity. Incredible flavour, dry hops, grapefruit and lemon with a warmth follow, slight winter spice. Amazing IPA, very good indeed DruncanVeasey (8426) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - SEP 9, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 2, 2013 Gravity, Tamworth BF, 06/09/13. Smells like Kelly Brook’s armpit. The left one. Slight marbled white over pale brilliant orange. Hop magnificence bristling with perfume and stewed, sweat-like greenery; ganja, curry leaf and grapefruit. Biscuits in deep deep expensive tea. It really does hum of armpit. Smooth full body. Was considering tipping a little (been running, it’s lunchtime, long day ahead full of intoxication and engagements..) but to do so would be a reprehensible act of sacrilege. Cask at Wellington, Birmingham. Delicious. Outstanding. You take it for granted that Oakham will continually produce these beautiful hoppy beasts, but by Jove the quality is good. This has ideal sweet/sour combination: like a shoe. The finish teeters towards sickly, but then swerves and becomes celestial. Love.
