COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
Piercing bitterness in this ’brite’ English style wheat beer which mellows to reveal fruit overtones amidst a dry as a bone finish. This is a real thirst quencher.

In 2010, the bremaster can no longer get the wheat malt that was used so it is no longer a wheat beer.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2003)
Pale, hazy, small head. Wheaty aroma. Crisp palate. Bitter and biting taste. Very nice, but this is so hoppy you’d probably only want one pint of it in an evening! Rating discovered while packing for a move in 2010.

Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 23, 2010
Cask. Clear golden with a rough white head. Unclean fruity aroma. Very light body, odd skewed overripe fruit accents. Dry and hoppy finish. 160110

[email protected] Hunters. Slightly hazy golden color, good creamy white head. Fresh citrusy aroma. Very lemon-citrusy flavor, some wheaty notes. Nice hoppyness. Good session beer.

RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2009
Cask, JDW, Carlisle. Slightly murky, which, I think, was more down to cellarmanship than anything else. Faintly sour, with an apple-like nose. Improved slightly with drinking, with some citrus aromas coming through, but there was still a slightly vinegary/vineous aroma that shouldn’t be there. One to re-rate, I reckon, as Oakham beers are pretty fine normally.

Cask at Hatch End W’Spoons. Golden coloured ale with a fresh floral aroma. Quite hoppy for a wheat beer. Any beer brewed by Oakham is decent. This went down very nicely on a very warm late Spring day in suburbia.

I like Oakham they put a shed load of hops in everything even a wheatbeer! This is a really interesting twist on a wheat beer and is spectacularly refreshing! i’ve marked it down on appearance only because it’s crystal clear

berkshirejohn (6650) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2009
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Very pale straw with a thin white head; weak citrus aroma; surprisingly full-bodied; clean and fresh tasting with lemon and a dry biscuity body; gently bitter Grapefruit finish. Very refreshing.

BeerViking (5041) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2009
Cask at Penderels Oak, a clear straw-gold with a fine white head, lots of floral hops on the nose with a hint of biscuit. Sharply bitter, with a light grainy body hopped into dryness and a long long dry-bitter finish.

Ethereal (2471) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 23, 2009
Cask at the New Crown (JDW) in Southgate. Thanks Magicdave! Clear golden amber with a line of white head. Funky grassy aroma. Good taste though, quite a lot of hops for a wheat ale. Not too heavy or wheaty however. I enjoyed this.
