The beer pours a slightly hazy golden color with a bit of a wispy head. There is a slight soapy aroma (suds, right?) with lots of pine needles, grapefruit, and almost a hint of marijuana. It finishes out on the nose with a very grassy, fresh note. The flavor is quite spicy, which made me think the hops were originally simcoe or summit. It’s dry, crisp and clean with a very faint biscuit/malty flavor. This beer isn’t sweet at all, and it finishes quite spicy and earthy with a flavor that lingers for several minutes after you swallow.
Pint at 16 Tons. Dark golden pour with a solid 2 fingers of white foam but little lacing. Pine and citrus hops along with a slight resinous note meld well with caramel malts in this one, which is all about balance rather than the typical in your face style of west coast ipas. Apropos for a beer that was made by two different breweries. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 8, 2011
Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured hazy, pale golden with a white head. Piney, citrus, some hop spiced bitterness. Well balanced for sure. Sweet malt characters, with a mild yeast character that stayed out of the way of the hop flavors.
