Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 16, 2012
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a cloudy opaque amber with a small, rough off-white head. Heavy alcohol in the nose but also an interesting an unusual hop blend - I feel I detect some Sorachi Ace, but that’s probably wishful thinking. Rich body, lovely caramel, a lovely Bourbon character and quite a bozy finish. I really dig this! 160612

Tasting at Papsø’s
Cloudy amber color, small head. The aroma shows both some oak aging (vanilla) and dust.; light cheese and fruits. Sweet malt flavor, caramel, some fudge; wood; the bitterness in the end is a bit odd.
Good, but some weirdness here.

Sampled from bottle at PIB, pours dark orangey amber with a small head. Aroma of butterscotch, yeast and dark fruits. Flavour is quite yeasty, with dark fruits, toffee and caramel. Mildly sweet, boozy and caramely finish. High carbonated, Well-made.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown. Tan head. Nose/taste of candied dark fruit, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla and nuts. Finishes with hint of warming alcohol. Medium body could be a little fuller given the ABV.

brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 11, 2011
A: The pour is a cloudy amber color with pretty minimal head formation. S: Smells really good. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, oak right away, giving a huge barrel presence. The barleywine aromas of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and dark fruits are evident and impressive as well. T: The flavor just really falls short. Toffee, nut shells, and wood dominate the flavor. There is a bit of vanilla and some mild bourbon, but the oak and booze are just overpowering. It really lacks refinement, cohesion, and balance. M: The body is medium with low to medium carbonation. O: A really nice nose but the flavor was disappointing.
