The nose reminds me of the Angel’s share, and that is very enticing. Flavors of cherries, raisins and light hops are all saturated in the medium body of this warm elixir. Thanks for the share - you know who you are. You don’t know who I am either. deyholla (11718) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Bottle thanks to my secret Santa. Pours a near clear deep amber with an orange hue and a light brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains and caramel with a bit of apple and a decent amount of bourbon. Flavor starts with some earthy grain and bread with growing sweet grains, caramel and some vanilla/bourbon that adds a bit of heat in the finish. BuckeyeBoy (7894) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 30, 2017
22oz bottle pours out orange copper topped with a sand head. Nose is bourbon wood notes rich caramel malt sweetness. Taste is more of the bourbon barrel notes toffee caramel and a little bitter notes on the end. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 10, 2010
Sampled at FoBAB 2010 (Chicago, IL). Pours a murky dark amber hue, some fire behind it. Frothy tan head, sticks around small layer. Aromas are rich bourbon, wet sticky toffee, vanilla, dried fruit, nuts. Initial rich toffee, nice bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, light oxidation, mellow biscuits, dried raisins, orangle marmalade. Finish is mellow sweet, rich fruits and nuts, wet sweet toffee, finish is mellow sweet. A sweeter Barleywine overall, lighter and spirit and more invested in caramel, toffee, dried fruit, and touches of marmalade. Could it use more barrel time? Maybe.. Nice beer BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - SEP 3, 2011
Bottle shared at Dak’s Cantillon Tasting. This one missed, both in theme of the tasting and beer style. 24 karat with a bit of rusty penny at its core. Head diminishes quite quickly. Flavor and aroma of caramel, alcohol, toffee, vanilla, and a bit of wood. Not a ton of complexity here...somewhat flat. Thought about trading heavily for this but decided against it...happy with that call.

Hazy amber with no head. Nose is buttery, toffee. Smooth flavor, toffee, medium body and low carb. This seems to have lost its sweetness and thinned out, maybe past its prime. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 29, 2015
Enjoyed at an all barley wine tasting at Travis’s house on February 21. The pour is a nice dark caramel color with hints of ruby poking through. There is a nice tan colored head that falls off quickly. The aroma is really woody. Almost to the point I want to question if there’s a stave in the bottle. Behind that there is a little caramel and a touch of vanilla to it. Light fruit is also present. The flavor again has a ton of wood. It’s surprising for this to be so wood forward with minimal bourbon. There is a little more of a dark fruit and licorice presence on the back end, but it’s light. The mouth feel is really thin, and the carbonation was too much. This practically jumps off your tongue. It had potential, but this bottle was all over the place dcschiller (2208) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 23, 2011
(bottle shared at Dak’s 5000 tasting). Pours a cloudy copper with thin off-white head.. Aroma has lots of wood, booze, caramel and some band-aid. Taste is sweet with some whiskey. Its still quite hot. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. OK, but I didn’t love it and there were so many great beers that day. Pinball (12166) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 16, 2012
