22 oz. bottle, pours a dark copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and bready caramel malt. Flavour is similar, with bready malt and a little toasted nuts. Pretty dull and lifeless. But it’s okay. Ferris (16492) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 12, 2015
Bottle - Woody dirty notes. Deep clear brown with a small beige head. Deep roots brown malts and a long dry Woody finish. bhensonb (15747) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 14, 2010
Bottle from John’s Marketplace. Pours very ruddy copper with a multifinger foamy beige head. Warm aroma of roasted malt and xmasy spices. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt, but not harshly roasted. The spices aren’t quite there. But there is something bitter balancing the malt - like subtle rosemary? Or maybe just fruity/floral hop. It’s a bit dirty/gritty in the finish. Still not harsh though. Really good ale, but not really great ale. Or maybe it is. Ratman197 (15350) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 9, 2013
Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of cocoa, carmel, nuttiness, earthiness and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness and light earthiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - DEC 27, 2010

Nice roasted malt character, with a little hops and alcohol and a smooth drinkability that stood out even amongst some really nice brews. Good strong ale, though I liked the very itg a little more." marcus (10668) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 23, 2014
Bottle shared by oRos. Pours hazy amber with a rich fluffy beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a hearty brown malt flavor that is pretty bitter for an English Ale. Very tasty. DuffMan (10664) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 24, 2010
Bottle, shared with TylerDurden (who no longer frequents this site, the bastard). Pours a dark brown with some sedimentary particles at the end of the pour. Chunky tan head. Sweet brown sugar and raisins, sponge toffee. Astringently bitter finish, like biting into grape seeds. Medium bodied, very tasty. onceblind (10548) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 23, 2014
Clear dark amber under a sticky lacy light beige head. The aroma is earthy nutty with a dark malt syrupiness with a odd but very welcoming herbal background. Nice flavor of Rosemary and some sort of herbal tone with some earthy malt tones, light nuttiness, a little Yrba Mate tea, and a light touch of earthy resiny hops on the finish. A little herbal for my liking but balanced and nuanced. sebletitje (10293) - Enghien, BELGIUM - FEB 14, 2010

pours brown, thin off-white head
aroma has a nice roasted caramel malt presence followed by subtle hops, mostly pine.
flavors, roasted malts, hints of coffee, chocolate, followed by a nice hop pine/floral mouthfeel that balance everything out, making this one a tasty IPA.
Finish has some notes of caramel/roast covered with hops goodness.
