Dark brown, rich chocolate nose with subtle espresso character. Rich mocha character with a great three-way balance between chocolate, coffee and earthy bittering hop. Medium body for this type of beer despite the sweetness. Quite an accomplished example.

On tap at Bde&. A dense finger thick dark beige head forms over a more or less black body. Nice curtains. Roasted, lightly burnt aroma with hints of charcoal and a good dash of dark chocolate and coffee. Lovely but a tad weak. More pronounced flavor, with roasted malts and a good dash of espresso and dark chocolate. Bready hints. Decent bitterness too. Lasting roasted, coffee-ish finish. Dry, nicely carbonated and smooth on the palate. A really fine one, well worth a revisit. 160213

22 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of mainly espresso and some bitter roasted malt. Flavour is more sweet than the nose suggests, with espresso, balanced by sweetened chocolate. Very light body for a stout, with light-to-medium complexity. Solid.

A: The pour is almost black in color with a rather small tan head. S: Definitely a coffee beer. Lots of intense coffee and a bit of coffee grounds. There is some toffee and dark chocolate aroma, and certainly some roasted malts. T: Big espresso and coffee flavor. Coffee grounds are definitely there too. Dark chocolate and roasted malts give a little bit of bitterness. The sweetness is somewhat restrained, but there is a nice bit of toffee. M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: Pretty good coffee beer. Not overwhelming or knock your socks off good, but solid.
