Solid if indistinguishable from the many other great IPAs out there. <soapbox> Unless you have the palette of a connoisseur, and 9 out of 10 self-proclaimed connoisseurs do not, the plethora of great IPAs is an embarrassment of riches. I think many brewers would be well served to branch out into distinguishing brews -- twists on IPAs no less. </soapbox> fiulijn (20516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 2, 2014
Bottle from Fred Meyer, SeattleFerris (15400) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 27, 2014
Hazy golden color with medium head. Nice aroma, toffee, gently toasted malts, some cereals, hay, and obviously hops, lightly musky. Nice mouthfeel, dry and lean; the malt profile is good and doesn’t cover the hop, with toffee, some cereals, hint of caramel; strong bitterness, quite piney and resiny, just lightly fruity, with some cedar peel.
Bottle - Nice fresh grapefruit. Clear gold with a decent white head. Bitter resin and some pithy grapefruit. Big bright but nice bitterness throughout and into finish. Tonkun (1296) - New Jersey, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Tap - cask. Clear yellow pour. Pine and grapefruit. Medium body. Smooth body with well balanced bitter finish. Nice Handypaul (554) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JUN 7, 2014
Bottle. Pours clear yellow with a minimal head that leaves good lacing. Nose of pine, honey and faint citrus. Medium to heavy bitter, lightly sweet, lively carbonation, light to medium body, flavors of grapefruit and bread leading to a long finish that’s a combo of sticky sweet to start and then bitter into the far finish.
CapFlu (5127) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 6, 2014
Lasting frothy off-white head atop clear, lightly carbonTed golden body. Nose of lemon rind and slight pepper. Very citrus, strong orange flavours. Somewhat oily and bitter through the finish. Good. pinkie (470) - New York, USA - JUN 2, 2014
Pours with plenty of particles floating so hazy and with a fat fluffy head of bone white foam that leaves good lacing. Nose is sweet floral, a bit of citrus, and some tropical fruit like pineapple. Whiff fo alcohol on the nose. The malt promises to be there with a touch of honey and a bit of bread on the nose. Some light sweet herbal and a light sweet earthiness too. taste is very nice. It has a bit of weight to the mouthfeel from malt and some fruity and floral hops. The tropical sweetness meets a bit of earthy grapefruit rind and the hops finish it with a firm bitter. In the drink the malt has a presence and a bit of weight to it. As the beer warms it smells like fruit punch and drinks lovely. It’s a bit peppery in the finish which is so unique for an IPA.

Bottle. Pours orange with a white head. Floral and resinous piney hops, faint malty sweetness, average bitterness, and a lingering floral and grassy hoppy finish. Pretty good. Oakes (17685) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 19, 2014
Dark yellow and bright. Aroma is slightly piney with indistinct citrus. Lean malts, rich piney hops. Biscuity, then finishes with a lingering bitterness that leaves resin on the tongue. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 10, 2014
16oz pour at Jack Rose DC. Pours a clear, dark gold with some bright, white head. Nose is nice, tropical fruit, mango, peach, bright hop pellet, tangerine, some soap, light herb. Flavor is solid, peach, mango, orange, tangerine, piney, chivey, soap. Clean, zesty finish. Really solid. I’d be happy with this as my local.
