Bottle - Malty, spice and funky yeasty esters. Clearish copper with a creamy beige head. Sweet brown sugar, molasses, yeasty sweet fruity esters. A bit sweet for me. Sammy (13373) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 7, 2013
Bottle at Tequilla Bookworm. Cherry brown coloured body with lace and some head. Above average carbonation. Aroma of malts and mild spice. Belgian yeast, coriander, licorice, chocolate. jercraigs (11377) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 22, 2013
2013-09-19. Lightly hazy very dark brown body nice creamy tan head. 3++ Aroma is tangy and fruity up front, sweetish dark malt. 7+ Flavour is pleasantly malty up front, sweet sugary malt, fruity undertones, very lightly tangy touches. Whisper of pineapple or is that in my head? 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Not really what I was expecting for the style but I think I like this better than what I expected! Bottle, shared at SuperBowl Party poker event. Medium brown with golden highlights, bubbly tan head. Burnt sugars, bread crusts, dates, mild Belgian yeast esters. A touch sweet, but I liked the bready quality here. Nice. JoeMcPhee (10272) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 22, 2014
Deep brown pour with a thick fluffy tan head. The nose is loaded with sweet toffeeish malt. A fairly pronounce caramel malt character. A touch of tartness up front with some dank musty yeast character that actually pretty authentic. The malt profile leans a bit too sweet for me but I can live with it. Assertive carbonation and a lingering sweetness. As it warms up, it picks up even more dusty notes. Some fairly chewy malt components - I probably should have held onto this for 6 months to a year but it’s still pretty interesting.

Bottle [750ml] at Indie Alehouse shared with jercraigs & mabel, Sep.19. Pours dark brown with a small semi-lasting frothy beige head. Aroma of tangy fruit, some light "metal" and caramel malt. Flavour is malty, tangy again, and with sweet malt and fruit. Average to medium bodied. Not a big fan of the style, I found this just good, not great. Boutip (6737) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 15, 2014
Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with medium retention. Aroma of caramel malt is dominating which is not what I was expecting considering the style. Taste is dominated by loads of caramel malt with some light grainy notes and a dry finish. Body is light with good carbonation. Big time disappointment as this is not close to the style guideline which I would have expected considering the labels plus I really don’t care to drink this much caramel malt. reebtogi (6488) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 29, 2016
750ml corked bottle pours a dark amber brown color with a 2 finger light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark fruits with some caramel and yeasty notes. Taste is a dark fruity and caramel malty sweetness with herbal bitterness. Light to medium bodied with abundant carbonation. An enjoyable brew that is well balanced and a good representation of the style. Lowenbrau (4933) - Asturias, SPAIN - JUL 25, 2014
750ml bottle from a gift. 24-07-2014.
In short: a yeasty carbonated ale.
Pours dark copper, hazy with frothy tan head, moderate head retention, some lacing. Bready, yeasty, caramel anfd liquorice aromas. Light to medium body, high carbonation, some viscous texture. Taste is caramel, bready, nuts, some harsh mouthfeel due to overcarbonation. Biere de Garde???. Enjoyable anyway.
