COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Munich classic, Occidental style. Malty and smooth, we produce our Dunkel with a clean-fermenting ale yeast, leaving a beer with a hint more flavor complexity than a Dunkel lager. Balanced with an assortment of noble hops, this is a beer equally at home with a hearty meal or as an after-work foamer.

Draft at PreFunk. Hazy copper color, small skin of head. Caramel, brown bread aroma. Taste too features these, a bit weaker than the native German style. Still excited to see this in the US.

mcberko (18949) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 15, 2014
On tap at Stateside Craft, pours a clear copper / amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity upfront, with toasted nuts in back - substantial sweetness. Flavour is similar, though thankfully not as fruity - bringing out dark fruits, toffee and toasted nuts to dry things out a bit. A little sweeter than typical dunkels, but it works. Decent one.

On tap at alibi. Pours a clear light amber with a thin cap and heavy rope. Aroma of wet sticks, light caramel. Taste is sweet. Medium-low carbonation. Thin.

WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - MAR 20, 2014
Draught at Garricks, Victoria, Canada. Translucent brown, off-white head. Nose of caramel, choc malt, floral hops. Flavour is caramel, choc malt, slight roast... strange, I love their kolsch and think their alt is the bomb... but the caramel just doesn’t work here, takes away from the style rather than adding to it.

stantheman (1098) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 21, 2013
On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A dark beer with a bit of whitish head. Not quite sure what to say about this one. Evident caramel with a bit of hop. A drinkable dark lager.

fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 21, 2013
Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark amber to mahogany color, bright and clean, with small creamy head. The aroma tends to be sweeter and more caramelly than German Dunkels. The mouthfeel is dry and rather weak; it has some caramel flavor, but it terribly lacks of depth; low bitterness somehow. It has some breadish impression.
Too simple.

boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Tap @ 1856... Poured deep brown with a moderate head. Not much retention. Mild mouthfeel, not too heavy. Good malt and ash notes with cocoa and hazelnuts. Hardly any yeast presence clean finish with lingering malts. Some floral hop notes detected for balance. But no bitterness.
