Mycket kaffe och mycket choklad, nästan lite tjärna också. Man finner en del lakrits. Ganska trevlig öl som man borde prova om man har vägarna förbi. TheJestersBeer (2431) - SWEDEN - JUL 8, 2011
Pours pitch black, the small head that is, is beige.
The aroma is complex and heavily toasted, licorice, dark chocolate, hops, tobacco, tar, clay (!), faintly smoky, coffe beans.
Off-dry, full bodied, high bitterness, balanced CO2.
Very rich, full taste, hard toast, lots of tar, licorice, coffee beans, lightly smoky, yeast, earth, hops, mint, tobacco. (2011-07-03) Mad_Ferret (1028) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 24, 2011
UPDATED: APR 26, 2011 Black with a small brown shortlived head. Not much lacings. Think i got a sloppy pour.
Aroma is burnt, chocolate, some berries.
Taste is moderately sweet and burnt with a nice chocolate note which saves it from becoming too dull with its salty herby licorice notes.
Also a bit vinous with berries and fruit.
Medium to full body. Small "mushy" bubbles.
Pretty good, but i got a bit bored with it towards the end. tkrjukoff (4334) - SWEDEN - MAR 2, 2011
Pours black with a nice brown bubbly head leaving some lace. Aroma is meaty, fruity, slightly sweet and roasted. Sweet fruity mouthfeel. Flavor is fruity apples, pears, roasted malts and smokey. Sweet acidy tart palate. Finishes with nice fruity tart dry aftertaste.

On tap at Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm in January 2011.
Black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, some coffee and notes of port wine. The same in the pleasant taste. The best beer from Oceanbryggeriet that I have tried.

Draft @ Bishops Arms Savoy, Malmö. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with hints of licorice. Roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor. Has a roasted malty licorice and chocolate finish. Marko (6285) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 23, 2010
Draught at the Järntorget BA. Poured a pitch black body with a creamy tan head, quite impressive. The nose followed suit, lovely malty chocolatey-coffeeish soft sweet and creamy is what I noted down and now that I got a connection here, I confirm online. The taste, however, doesn’t follow suit because it would probably be far better rated if it did. It’s a bit light, mixing some sweetish malt with nice roasty notes and what one can only hope is acidity coming from the hops and not some random fault. It ends up being a little soapy, dry, acidic and messy, but ok in some way nonetheless. I should try their regular porter to compare, this is good enough already. If only for the before-tasting presentation. LoFi (1763) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 8, 2010

Batch #1 (2008) tasted Oct. 2010:
Black with a porous, light brown head, something about it reminds me of Coca-Cola. Aroma: sweet, chocolate, sweet licorice. Taste: chocolate, licorice, acidic, some saltiness, berries, wine gums. Really nice flavours, but the mouthfeel was a bit disappointing, way too little carbonation.
Oak chip cask:
Black with a porous brown head. Aroma: red wine, wood. Taste: some alcohol, red wine or glögg, spices, plus the regular flavours. Interesting, but I preper the regular one.
400ml draught at Bishop Arms Järntorget where it was served rather chilled. Jet black body covered by a few, beige bubbles. Spotty lacework. Smooth aroma of dark malts along with a touch of anise. Dark, slightly roasted, malts in flavour in fine interplay with mocha chocolate and bitter liquorice. Notes of bitter dark fruits, too. Warming alcohol to a bittersweet ending. Good drinking (Göteborg, 03.08.2010). mjs (7778) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 20, 2010
