Many thanks to Nisse666 for this bottle! Dry roasted beginning. The beer is smooth with hints of smoke. Nice dry body, fresh and intense round with lots of roasted malts. Dry body, still highly drinkable, nice and subtle sweetness. The malt there is intense roasted, nice aroma of burned grain, roasted hazelnuts or dry caramel.
Fascinating smooth in the aftertaste, not sticky, moderate bitter. Great stuff! Sigmund (7825) - Tau, NORWAY - JUL 7, 2009
On tap at Bishop’s Arms Järntorget, Göteborg. ABV was 9.0%. Served in "brandy" snifter. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Pleasant roasty aroma with notes of coffee, liquorice, chocolate and prunes. The flavour is distinctly roasty and moderately sweet with a certain warmth from the alcohol, notes of chocolate, port wine and prunes. Excellent beer! LoFi (1748) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 8, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2010 Draught. Pitch black with a small beige head. Roasted aroma, coffee, bitter chocolate, berries, licorice and smoke. Very nice!cgarvieuk (25705) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 19, 2013
Batch #1 (2008) tasted Oct. 2010:
Black with a porous, light brown head, something about it reminds me of Coca-Cola. Aroma: sweet, chocolate, sweet licorice. Taste: chocolate, licorice, acidic, some saltiness, berries, wine gums. Really nice flavours, but the mouthfeel was a bit disappointing, way too little carbonation.
Oak chip cask:
Black with a porous brown head. Aroma: red wine, wood. Taste: some alcohol, red wine or glögg, spices, plus the regular flavours. Interesting, but I preper the regular one.
bottle at home ... thanks Thomas ... deep black ... bubbly tan head ... soft dark malts ... chewy chocolate ... little tobacco nose... dark roast ... big chocolate ... heavy rich roast ... deep complex ... little leather ... wonderfully complex gnoff (10793) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 20, 2008

Black color, big dark brown head. Sweet, roasted, mineral scent. Roasted, charcoal, wood, alcohol taste. Charcoal aftertaste, some alcohol. Medium to smooth, fizzy still, moutfeel; high bitterness. Minerals coming through.
(April 1008, brew #1!).
Black color, small brown head. Sweet, alcohol, medicinal, minty, roasted scent. Grainy, malty, raisin, minty, medicinal, herbal, alcohol, sweet taste. Roasted, berries aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Too old or not aged with grace, nice, but the fresh one is better (for me).
50 cl bottle I’ve had for a good while, originally from first release at Systembolaget. BB 140222, likely a 2013 vintage, perhaps 2012. Sampled on Dec 31, 2016.
Black color, dark brown head. Sweet, malty, roasted, chocolate scent, some light alcohol and a hint of smoke. Roasted, chocolate, light fruity taste. Fruity, toffee, roasted, berries aftertaste. Full smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Bottle at home. A porter right up my alley!
Wonderful gentle touch of coffee and chocolate with a nice cream and hints of dried fruits and some licorice.
The 9% ABV is very well hidden. rollerton (194) - SWEDEN - MAY 9, 2015

sample at the brewery, of the tank.
Shared with Gnoff.
One fresh from the tank, and a 14 months old bottle.
pours black with lasting mocha head and a frothy nice golden lacing.
Aroma had plenty of chocolate malts.
Taste, some light liquorice, dark malts giv this puppy an enormous roasted, chocolate palate with some faint coffee. Light hops.
**14 months old bottle; a little milder, with dark fruits/ caramel being more upfront and the chocolate/malts in the background.
Definitely my favourite by Ocean. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 3, 2013
Thanks Timo! Big dark brown color, brown head. Chocolate, sweet vanilla, some fruity(blackberry jam) flavors. Creamy and nice.
