In short: average porter.
Did I enjoy it: average joy.
Pours quite dark with nice light tan head, moderate retention, some scatered irregular lacing. Roasty, licorice, little coffee and spicy nose. Medium body, average to high carbonation, thin texture. Taste is roasty, little coffe, a bit watery, and some harsh due to some overcarbonation.

F: medium size, tanned, poor retention. C: dark, opaque. A: chocolate, malty, coffee, cocoa, hint of lactic, bit dark fruits. T: malty, roasted, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, dry on the palate, quite watery but for 4,5% not bad, light to medium body, low to medium carbonation, almost enjoyed, GF so I can share with my wife, 355ml bottle from Auchan Market in Luxembourg.

4.5% abv. Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Some chocolate some liquorice, some paper. Smooth in the mouth. But a bit too liquorice for me. A little fizzy on the finish. OK, but not to my taste.

3.2
blackisle (2637) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - APR 12, 2017
Bottle 35.5cl., label says 4.5% ABV, poured into a half pint glass. Nearly opaque dark brown with a ruby red hue, small frothy tan head, recedes quickly, minimal lacing; aroma roasted malts, cocoa, caramel; thin taste, light heavy to medium sweet, slightly bitter, roasty, milk chocolate; sweetbitter aftertaste, light coffee and chocolate; medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation; kind of tame for an American porter, decent though.

I would have been more impressed if I hadn’t just had some superior dark beers in Mexico in December. Looks the part but feels too light.
