Bottle. Pours to a black body with a super tall off-tan head and awesome lacing. Super fluffy and thick. The aroma is heavy on the citrus fruit and deep roasty black malt. Some notes of a brown malt poke through. The flavor is extremely malty and brownie like. Notes of grapefruit and pine. The palate is rich with a slight char. Really roasty all in all. njager246 (697) - grand rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 14, 2014
A wild aroma roasted malts and citrus... Kind of a funky aftertaste, wondering if I got a bad batch jbrana (640) - NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Not my favorite style, but not a bad beer. Flavors of roasted barley, coffee, pineapple, peach, and some very slight lemongrass. alliance100 (1159) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 30, 2014
12oz bottle - pours a medium black with tan head. Huge pine aromas with pink grapefruit . Taste is mildly roasty , loads of bitter juicy citrus . Palate is fairly light with crisp hop punch . Very drinkable .

Bottle from Champanes,
this ale had a clear dark brown pour (this beer was a dark red when held up to a light), and gave a two to three finger head of off-white and faint tan bubbles from a fast pour, the cover lowered to thin layer with a little open area on top and sticky ring with lacing on the sides of the glass, it left some nice spots and fingers of lacing on the glass,
the nose had aromas of roasted malt, citrus, lemon and faint pine hops, some dark fruit that was similar to prune and date, faint coffee and a little malt sweetness and faint caramel,
the flavors were roasted malt, some coffee, caramel, faint dark fruit,
the finish had a hop bitterness that was about medium and roasted malt trailing afterwards,
the mouth feel was light to medium, it was creamy and had average carbonation,
this beer had a nice nose and the flavor was a tad less so, this drink was not boring at first but started to go that way towards the end of the glass, I find that Black IPAs sort of bore me, this drink was not that boring which is a good thing.

Black brown pour into a snifter. Small mocha head. Smell is citrus, juicy hops, roasted malts. Taste follows, tropical fruits, roast, bit of bakers chocolate bitterness. One of the best black IPAs I have had. Solid. burg326 (5594) - Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2014
Poured a black color with aromas of roast, citrus and pine. Flavors were light roast and earth followed by citrus, hops and pine. One of the better black ipas out there. paintedmaple (671) - People’s Republic of Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JAN 7, 2014
Silky almost black pour with bright fresh hop flavor over roasted coffee beans this also has a complex fruitiness (Citra) that really works well with the dark flavors. Nice. DuffMan (10600) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 29, 2013
Bottle, from Sammy. Very dark brown, nearly black. Papaya fruit hop character, ripe melon, very sweet, with underlying silky roast. Big piney bitterness. Not bad. deyholla (12021) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has an interesting combination of citrus, light pine, dark grains and light roasted malts. Flavor starts with smooth roasted malts and a hint of chocolate and has bitter citrus in the finish.
