Aroma is sweet hops, roasted malt. Appearance is black, light tan head. Taste is balanced, equally malt and hop. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft carbonation and velvety. Overall, a solid brew. 48FanInCali (851) - California, USA - OCT 27, 2013
12oz bottle. Black pour with decent off white head and some decent cling. Nose is fairly hop forward but with ample amounts of roast. Taste follows with a surprisingly nice balance of citrus, roasted malt, and tropical fruit notes. Different but certainly in a good way.

This one poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was lots of citra hops, medium roast too. Flavor was similar but more intense, big juicy fruity citra followed by a mild roast balance. One of if not the best black ipa iíve ever had. Incredibily balanced. rumproasts (5342) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 15, 2013
bottle. Deep brown with one finger head. Rich toasty malt with big Citra hops. Thereís a very nice interplay between the chocolate malt flavor and the fruity hops.

Black brown pour into a snifter. Small mocha head. Smell is citrus, juicy hops, roasted malts. Taste follows, tropical fruits, roast, bit of bakers chocolate bitterness. One of the best black IPAs I have had. Solid. UDBeernut (2883) - Saint Johns, Florida, USA - OCT 14, 2014

Wonderful beer. The dark malt and citrus play very well together. Odd Side can be hit or miss, but this one is a definite hit. Will get again. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - OCT 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours black with a small foamy head that fades quickly. Aroma is burnt cedar, chocolate, grapefruit, and light tropical fruit. Taste starts with slightly burnt wood and toasted malt. Finishes fairly hoppy, mostly grapefruit with some light tropical fruit and pine. Very smooth beer. Mildly sweet and a moderate bitterness. More good stuff from Odd Side. Bottle: The aroma consists of tropical fruits, chocolate, grapefruit, citrus, lighter pine, and roasted malt. It pours a dark brown with an orange glow when held to the light. It has a one finger beige head with decent retention before it eventually fades to a thin film. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, tropical fruits, and light roasted malt. The finish has moderate grapefruit, citrus, and pine. Itís medium bodied with soft carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, itís another in a long line of Black IPAís that make me think hoppy Porter. Itís tasty and I do like the use of citra hops in this hoppy Porter.
